Your post said the patient was given this medication in an IV, therefore KCl is appropriate here...KayCiel is a brand name for ORAL medication. Even then, unless they specifically state they're prescribing the BRAND name or some defining info (powder form etc.) I give them KCl. Unfortunately, the brand and the generic sound EXACTLY the same and there's just no way to tell, but definitely NOT in an IV :)
