The operation began by tumescing the areas to be suctioned with tumescent solution.
Tumescing is not a word that I can find. Any suggestions on what to use here?

It sounds like we are having a similar problem (see my question above yours) with docs making up words. If it's clear, I would go with it. I think that's what I am going to do with mine.
