that fixated was not a work to be used except in the sense of "John's attention was fixated on nude statue". When a doc says he fixated the plate to the bone, I was taught to change it to fixed. Now I am starting to second guess as so many docs use it in this way. Anyone can chime in here. I am so confused.

if they say fixated they get it. Many things have changed over the years, dilation and dilatation being used interchangeably comes to mind.

I did not feel I needed to correct her use of "pleural" as was not her question and just quickly wanted to help her, and checked my medical references to do so. I pointed out that there are no plural form for decubitus. This is all correct. What is your problem.
