Proper way to type height measurements
Subject: Proper way to type height measurements

What is the correct way to type height measurements.  For example, doctor says "5 foot 1 inch".  Normally when the number is pleural, it should be "feet", but the doctors always say "foot".  Also, is there a comma between the foot and inches.  Such as, "5 foot, 1 inch"?  TIA

You might have John Doe, M.D. in the address info, but doctor dictates "Dear Johnny." Is this what you mean? If that's the case, I would type it as he says it, as he may have a friendly relationship with him in addition to his professional relationship.

On the other hand, if he's dictating a personal nickname, like "Puddin", you should probably use the other name. :)

I've never heard of a corner back, but it doesn't sound like he's saying quarterback.

But when I search google, the patient is listed as a DB. Can someone clue me in, please?

I've already let one report go with quarterback, but now I'm concerned about it and don't want to make another mistake.

Is there a corner back...if so how do I type it? And what's a DB? Thanks.

When doing the PE, the doctors usually dictate the fundal height along with the vital signs.  I was always taught in the hospitals where I worked that fundal height went along with the abdominal exam.  Thoughts?

Subject: Tendo and tendinitis are both accepted, it all depends on your doc dictating.

Many years ago, I typed tendonitis on a report and the orthopod almost pecked me to the wall and said it was "tendinitis"  and that is what he wanted to see in his reports.  Other docs prefer tendonitis..sooo....as far as the rule goes, spell it like the client wants it typed (they both mean the same thing).
