BNP (brain natriuretic peptide) 1388. sm
Subject: BNP (brain natriuretic peptide) 1388. sm

BMP stands for basic metabolic profile which contains electrolytes, etc., which you mentioned in the sentence preceding. BNP is generally a single value and numbers can get pretty high.

Stedman's Path/Lab would be helpful to you. It lists standardized lab values in the back of the book, 49 pages!, definitely worth the price of the book.

urine culture for TB?
Subject: urine culture for TB?

I first thought he said this: Probably I need to obtain the urine for a kidney culture.  Then when I listened this morning it sounded like TB?  Is this correct?
Yes, you can test urine for TB. sm
Subject: Yes, you can test urine for TB. sm

Active Tuberculosis
To diagnose TB of the respiratory tract, 3 to 5 sputum specimens are collected first thing in the morning on different days when they are most likely to contain the most mycobacteria. If extrapulmonary TB is suspected, samples are collected based upon where in the body the infection is likely to be. Multiple samples of gastric (stomach) washings/aspirates or urine may be collected and submitted to the laboratory. Sometimes cerebrospinal fluid (CSF), biopsied tissue, or other body fluids are also collected.
