Prescription for prednisolone 15 __ dispensed quantity sufficient 1 teaspoon p.o. x2 days.
also? it actually sounds like "quantefficient" ... rather than quantity sufficient.

There are so many streps in the dictionary.

I always just type streptococcus (in italics) because they really cannot rule out the type until the tests are done. I haven't got one back yet. :)

Does anyone know when it's proper to capitalize strep and when not to? I see it both ways in the dictionary. As in "he has a strep throat" or "diagnosed with group B strep," etc.
Thanks!

Subject: strep
This is from a previous response by MQQA to a similar question.
If he is referring to strep throat, then that would be lower case. A specific type of strep, i.e. group B Streptococcus (Streptococcus is the genus here) would be capitalized.
Always capitalize genus names and their abbreviated forms when accompanied by a species name

Strep - capitalized
Subject: Strep - capitalized
I always thought Strep was supposed to be capitalized - it's the species, and the subspecies was typed with all small letters.
More and more, I'm seeing Strep typed with a small 's", and it comes up okay in our dictionary with a small "s". Am I incorrect?
Thanks!

GROUP B STREP IN DIAGNOSIS
I'm confused on group B strep in a diagnosis. My research tells me that group B and group beta strep are interchangeable; however, on a recent audit I was counted off because I typed group beta Streptococcus in the diagnosis. Was corrected that it should be: group B Streptococcus. Anybody know which is correct? Thank you!
