Both Stedman's and Dorlands defines vasectomy as surgical removal of the vas deferens
Subject: Both Stedman's and Dorlands defines vasectomy as surgical removal of the vas deferens
or a portion of it specifically to induce sterility. It absolutely is not correct to leave vasectomy in a female patient's report. It is wrong! Nowhere in any of my reference books can I find vasectomy referring to anything other than the vas deferens for male sterility, NOWHERE. I don't care how you break up the word, you can not change its meaning as a whole.
The QA person who filled it in is a boob who is simply filling in blanks for the sake of sending a report with no blanks. The report simply should have been sent with the blank and a note drawing the physician's attention to the discrepancy.

Subject: ENT polyp removal surgery from vocal fold. sm for sentence pls. s/l formal surgical fashion.
Using formal surgical technique, complete excision of this lesion was performed while taking care to protect as much normal epithelium and underlying superficial lamina propria as possible
The FORMAL could also sound a little bit like funnel or fur-nel?? I don't think formal is right, but not sure what I am hearing.

Stedman's Med/Surge Equipment book lists pituitary curette, forceps, rongeur, and spoon. This would make sense I believe as it should be a smaller appliance.

"In women, although
not in all studies (22), a decline in both FSH and LH levels
occurs with age after menopause (19, 23), and decreased
gonadotropins secretion with age is also observed in aged
men (24)..."
I guess it would depend on what you patient is being studied for. It may not be LH at all? Sorry

question about gland
Subject: question about gland
This is a personal question. I just took my 12yr old to the doctor because she has a bulging knot in the crease of her thigh just to the right of her vagina. The doc said it was a swollen gland and put her on antibiotics. I have been reseaching glands and was wondering if this particular gland had a name. The doc talked like this could be serious, but maybe not. I was in shock and did not ask the right questions. Does anyone have any idea. I know this is a site for workers (it has always been a help to me), but I am at a loss. Thanks
