The holes they make for laparoscopic surgery of any kind go through the skin, subcutaneous tissue, muscles, etc., are called portals. Some docs call them "portholes." The lateral portal is on the lateral side of the knee.

Once we were done, we then reevaluated and felt a fairly good CHECK RAIN? under passive range of motion of external rotation as well as abduction.
