The plural of decubitus is not decubiti. Being a fourth declension Latin word ending in 'us,' decubitus is both singular and plural.

Subject: decubitus is not a noun
it's an adjective. So it doesn't have a plural form.
In terms of pleural vs plural, it's easy for an MT to make this mistake. Like, the abdominal snowman...It's an occupational hazard.

as in decubitus position, decubitus ulcer (which is what you are talking about). the definition of decubitus is "lying down". So decubitus ulcer means an ulcer from lying down in one position causing ischemia to the area.

Merchant's view x-ray
My orthopedic surgeon and I are having a go around in regards to x-rays views. He wants "Merchant view," I say it is "Merchant's view" (being possessive since it is Dr. Merchant that it is named after. Yet when I search the Internet it comes up in doctor's literature, medical schools, radiology offices as all of the above as well as "Merchants view." My daughter who graduated recently with a major in English said it should be "Merchant's view," that the possessive is the correct way. Any opinions out there?
