Thank you very much for this information - I did do a google search but only read the first two pages and believe they were in Spanish or Italian - some language I was not familiar with and could not read. Thanks for your help, I do appreciate it.

Yup, it really is a word, it is synonymous with a popliteal sesamoid bone as far as I know (in other words, a little bone located in the tendon). Nowadays, people tend to call it a sesamoid bone. Hope that is helpful.
