Because most American sites (National Institute of Health, et al) use the hyphen (even for other forms), and there is apparently some sort of animal named "colocolo" without the hyphen.
Only my opinion, though.

This patient has had palpitations and was seen by "cards." Is this slang for Cardiology? I have never heard this used this way. Thanks so much!

Used to hope they said "normal chest" !!!! Typed on a little Elite typewriter. My chair was a stool and the table was a hospital tray/table. The techs used to push my stool back because I traveled when I typed. !!!
