I thought I understood when to use which until now. I have an company telling me that the proper use is "callus formation". In 5+ years, this has never been an issue and I thought it was a part of "transcription 101" so to speak. Any clarification would be helpful.

I'm a little confused about callus/callous. I know that "callous" is supposed to be like a callus or callus-like. But when the doctor says that there is callus/callous tissue around the border of the wound, i can't figure out which one to use. Which would be more appropriate? Thanks in advance!

Is it callous or callus and plural calluses? Does anyone have a good description? I always thought it was a sore on the foot, but the dictionary has it as a mass of tissue that forms at a fracture sight. There is no mention of a fracture and it is located between toes. Help please!!!!

I thought callus was hardened bone or skin and callous was when someone was being insensitive?

As QA staff, I would not correct that. It's okay either way...unlikely the client would notice/care about something so minute as that. QA sometimes gets narrowed thinking, so much detail work. Have to see/QA outside the box.

Picc versus PIC, sm

Actually they are two different things, according to my sources. The PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) is inserted to the vena cava, thus it is "central." The PIC (peripherally inserted catheter) is inserted locally, not to the vena cava. I actually had one of these, it was in my AC space. PICC is the term that is used unless they specify local. If anyone has any other info I would be interested to hear it. Thanks.

Me again. Need to know which edition of the AAMT Book of Style specifically has information regarding the "x" symbol? Currently in a conflict about whether there is a space between "oriented x 3 versus oriented x3." I don't add the space, but I guess some people do.
