Hemoglobin and hematocrit are like 14 and 42.....hematocrit is supposed to be about 3 times the hemoglobin.......so I presume dictator is speaking about the hematocrit....and so if the hematocrit is 36 then the hemoglobin is 11-12........and these are slightly low...
hence, anemia.......

Thanks for reporting back. Do you know how curious I've been about that one? ;-) Glad you have a nice doc who will get back to you on such things.
I'm surprised it isn't E/E' tho. I wonder if we were both thrown by the "U" that you may have been hearing.
Neato, and thanks for posting the answer! Have a goodun!

I was told after my 3rd miscarriage that I was RH negative. This is what I remember from that, there may be more to it that I don't remember, please keep that in mind.
Since I am type O-, and my husband was B+ due to the RH factor my body saw it as a foreign object and rejected it. Thay gave me a shot to prevent this. I cannot donate blood b/o the RH thing and cannot receive anything other than O- blood.
I thought this only had to do with O blood types though. Was your husband a type O?

Oh, dear! This sounds like "mela enteritis." I am sure that I will hit my forehead when I find out what he's saying.
The phrase is: "...he also had some mela enteritis and sepsis.."
It might help if I mention that the dictator has a thick Nigerian accent.
Thanks in advance!

According to my lab book, hematocrit is not capitalized. I know docs make up words all the time, but according to all of my books, no capitalization for hematocrit at all. Hope that helps you.

hematocrit capitalization
Subject: hematocrit capitalization
I swear I read somewhere that Hematocrit should be capitalized. I know Hemoccult is capitalized, but......have I lost my mind? Did anyone else ever run across Hematocrit being capped. For the reason that machinery in the lab is called Hematocrit and therefore they are defaulting to capitalizing it? If not, I am dreaming about transcription and making up rules (again hahaha)
