Not sure if it is correct or not though...oh well.  Thanks for you help.

Yeah, I found that when I googled it, but
Subject: Yeah, I found that when I googled it, but

I'm sure that is not it. I found something else that relates to nuclear medicine, but nothing that states what UPPI stands for. Thanks for the help, though!
That's it. I finally Googled third-year residency and found it-
Subject: That's it. I finally Googled third-year residency and found it-

I was just coming to post that I had found it. Sure didn't sound like PGY - but taking it in context, I'm sure that's it. Thanks!

25-pack/year would mean 25 packs per year, but
Subject: 25-pack/year would mean 25 packs per year, but

25-pack-year is the amount equal to packs smoked per day x number of years smoking, as per BOS and Vera Pyle.

Is year old still hyphenated as in 74-year-old? nm

2 years' time because years is plural. One year's time because it is singular, only one year.

Yeah, there are. But
Subject: Yeah, there are. But

"Are you kidding? Does not deserve an answer." sounds more like specific question related rather than too many posts related.

sure did s/l pan though! I didn't think pan CT made any sense and couldn't find a reference, but I wanted to be sure.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the help!

OHH yeah that does help. She did say
Subject: OHH yeah that does help. She did say

pt is scheduled for a "colectomy takedown and reanastomosis" I guess I'll leave it as she says it. I thought maybe she could have been using the wrong term and meant "colostomy takedown" or it could have been "colectomy, takedown, and reanastomosis" like the pt was going to have another colectomy.

Thanks so much for the help! And just in time, too, I'm just about to send in the report. Much appreciated!

Subject: Yeah...

Yeah. I know. 21 of the 25 doctors I routinely transcribe are ESL. It's challenging, to say the least. I was just hoping that someone would recognize the sounds. (I know that sometimes I can, even when reading what someone else heard.)

I blanked it. Will report back if anyone cares.

Oh yeah...
Subject: Oh yeah...

I know how that is. It's weird that some docs expect you to go against common rules. The BOS says use of actual numbers should be used exclusively but at times to use your own judgement. But, even common English rules say not to spell out numbers above 10. Now, capitalizing generic medicines is just plain crazy. But you do what they ask, no matter how ignorant. :-) Been there, done that.
oh, yeah that's it.!? Thanks nm

Yeah, I don't see how it's an abdl CT
Subject: Yeah, I don't see how it's an abdl CT

and it's showing the sacrum, so I wonder if it's really a CT of the pelvis. Docs can be really sloppy about dictating the names of procedures, which can make it harder on billing.

Subject: Yeah, but I believe the OP did mention that research had been done...sm

The OP had used Google and found instances of both words being used. Sounds more like the OP was looking for some help with the proper usage of the word in the context of a report. I don't see why she (or he) caught any grief for asking for opinions on the proper term to use.

yeah - I've noticed!
Subject: yeah - I've noticed!

I've already found myself either sticking up for others, or myself, during my few days on this board - some people can really be out of line. I am looking forward to helping though - especially the new MTs - if they do well and look good, we (American MTs) in turn look good as a group. I would like to dedicate some of my time each day to just browse by and see if any help is needed out there - believe me - I have plenty of time with all the standby during the final days at Heartland :) Anyhow, Thank you for helping me focus my efforts in the right direction!

Subject: yeah...like hyperflexibility. It is not a word either--sm

but used a lot. I hear subluxation, and subluxing all the time, but I have never heard any of my ortho docs say subluxability, but I suppose it could be accepted.
