In Stedman's Med/Surg Equipment reference it shows lower case glide wire listed under wire and also under glide (this is coming from an old 1993 edition). They also show upper case Glidewire guide listed only under wire. Then in the Stedman's CV and Pulmonary 2001 edition it shows Glidewire brand listed as it's own separate reference with several types listed under it. Glidewire appears again under the guide wire listings and nowhere can I find lower case glide wire listed in the newer edictino (not even under wire). I'm guessing you are trying to say that Glidewire brand name has replaced the old reference all together? I do want to get this right and appreciate your pointing that out.
Any clues about the Mire/Mylar wire or the AquaTempo catheter?

really carefully to discern between Glidewire and guidewire, as these docs don't always speak clearly, and there are different types of guidewires besides the Glidewire...boy talk about a play of words. LOL

When in doubt, I refer to Stedman's Abbreviation book. For example, I have always hated typing "afib" for atrial fibrillation, so I looked it up. In this book, the proper way to abbreviate it is AFib. As far as cc versus mL, that is a Joint Commission requirement, not a BOS issue. Another example is sed rate. There is no approved abbreviation that sounds like sed rate, but the book shows sed rt, which is something I wouldn't use. Sed is truncated, not abbreviated, so I expand to sedimentation rate.
I work for 2 companies with slightly different approaches to a couple of BOS issues, both being very reputable MTSOs, so I have to keep them straight in my head. One wants me to use platelets if that is what is said in the CBC dictation; the other wants me to use platelet count.
You will have to decide what path you need to take.

This is dictated in an op note on a right knee arthroscopy and partial meniscectomy. The doc says a s/l Poodoo drill guide was inserted and the tibial tunnel placed in an anatomic position. I've tried various spellings on Google, including Peaudeau, Pudeau, Pudu, etc., and I'm not having any luck finding this. Any ideas, anyone?
