I don't know how new you are, but I think your work is excellent, and you obviously care about doing a good job. We all needed help (still do) and most of us oldsters had people right there with us to help. If I ever see your posts on here, I'll be glad to help you.

Hey Newbie MT
Subject: Hey Newbie MT
I don't mean to put you down at all and I see that you are getting some excellent report, but your reports indicate that you are doing trauma level work. Where is the QA staff with your MTSO? I mean, if you are needing this much help and you are working a trauma hospital, it is going to be hard for you to make it in the long run if you are needing this much help with so many small issues.
Also, from a QA MTSO standpoint, if I thought that if this much of actual reports was being put in a web forum, I would have serious issues with your understanding of any confidentiality agreement you had to sign with the company.
I'm all for helping someone out but I seriously think you are overstepping the bounds of what the intent of creation of this board and of the people enabling you here. How did you pass all the testing to get a job on a trauma hospital? I really do wish you well but I hope someone at your company doesn't recognize these reports and lays you low.
As a newbie myself I am also sad to see this...sm

... It stinks that someone can get a job by 'cheating' BUT once they are working that will certainly show and the position will open up again. However, this type of thing may be a big reason why so few companies are willing to hire a new graduate. Very sad.
Are you a newbie?

I have the word *radiology* flagged to auto email me - for potential jobs...
Could you write your questions without that word (radiology) so I don't get them?
Newbie needs help!
I am brand new so this question will probably seem funny to you more experienced MT's....I am typing about a patient's sutures and the doctor said he used 4 0 nylon...how do you type that out?
Thanks for your help!!!

Okay, I am sure this is asked over and over and over but I haven't been able to find any recent examples. I am in training and really growing to understand so many reasons why this is an extremely complicated field to work in. I have had to transcribe, as of late, some extremely slurred and garbled transcriptions. I'm doing pretty good on figuring out procedures, drugs, equipment, conditions, etc. But trying to figure out some doctor who sounds either drunk or half asleep, and what they are trying to say is next to impossible. I have found that it doesnt matter how much I slow down or speed up a slurred word, I will still not understand it. So, I would just like to hear some tips of things you guys have tried over the years in this area. I realize that it is something that doesn't have just one or two tricks to figure out, but I have learned there are many creative and resourceful people here! Thanks.

tough op! I'm impressed! Not being able to hear it limits the help I can give you, but I've been doing ops for many years, and I think you did great!! As far as paragraphing is concerned, only paragraph if the doc dictates it unless your company says you can do it on your own. Most of the MT we do nowadays is "type what they say," so if they don't paragraph, don't paragraph.
There were a few spots where you should relisten as I couldn't grasp what should go there. Most of my changes involved adding hyphens, as in 12-mm this, or 5-mm that. Both 12 and mm modify the following noun so you need a hyphen here. You had a couple of misspellings (and I think I left you one with "unde") (some things didn't fit my screen). Basically, I think you're being audited because your QA may be thinking you can be advanced to the tougher stuff.
Note, Steri-Strips is a proper name. Also, I see where I didn't change one term which should read (at the end) umbilical port site was closed AT the level of the fascia. And then, The skin was then...
Ya did good, NewbieMT!!!

The area in which you most need help is in how to decide what is ethical. The moderator herself does not allow such reports to be posted here. You should have known better. Now you do.

Okay doc says earlier in the report pt lost his prescription for verapamil. In plan doc says renewal of his Verelan SR. In drug book it says they can get easily confused with one another. However, it also states Verelan is listed under brand names for verapamil. Would leave as is or flag it?
Yes, thanks. I'm a newbie and never had an transfusion before.

I google what the word sounds like with different spellings and sometimes that helps. Many slurring doctors on my end too! Jenny

I'm an oldie and the doctor giving dictation sounds about 101.
I left it as recess, since recessectomy does not exist and I'm tired of doctors making up words.
I really do appreciate input I receive here, so thanks.

Newbie, this is the stuff of which lawsuits are made. Get informed. Get some ethics. Get a clue. Good thing you do not work for my company or you would be out in a New York minute.
