I think that rather than - "The patient is getting onto and off of the __________ without any difficulty."
He had actually started the sentence with "He is . . ." rather than "The patient is . . .", and I now think that rather than "He is getting onto and off of the s/l sherry's without any difficulty.", I believe it is "Getting onto and off of the chair is without any difficulty."
I think that the "He is . . ." was a false start.
