X-rays taken today indicate the prosthesis to be in good alignment. There is no evidence of loosening s/l or___ radiolucency. There is some calcification noted at the femur and the acetabulum, but the joint space is well maintained.

and google is NOT the authority on when to use which word. You can find errors all over the internet and I don't consider google a research tool unless it takes me to a manufacturer web site so I can find a copyrighted spelling.
A good dictionary and solid reference materials are needed. Additionally, the OP did not say the client wanted it one way or another so your bringing that into the equation makes you look as though you are trying to justify what you do, and I really do not care what you do. You are only trying to deflect the direction of the discussion to one in which you _win_ and you try to make me _lose_. The people here who lose are the ones who still don't know the CORRECT usage of the 2 words.
