Subject: Rou-en-Y = gastric bypass surgery....
There is also the LAP-BAND (adjustable gastric band) which is the other gastric bypass surgery but the one with the least risks versus the Roux-en-Y.

I cannot confirm this "type" of trocar. It does not s/l "Veirs"-type trocar to me.
An incision was made above and to the left of the umbilicus, through which a #5/12 Visiport US Surgical trocar was inserted under direct vision into the peritoneal cavity. This was followed by placing another #5/12 trocar in the left upper quadrant. Another #5/12 trocar was placed in the epigastric region to the right of the midline. Another #5/12 trocar _____**s/l "varices"-type trocar was placed between the supraumbilical and the left upper quadrant trocar site. The abdomen was insufflated, and all the trocar sites were placed under direct vision.
a stapler used in a laparoscopic gastric bypass
Subject: a stapler used in a laparoscopic gastric bypass
I'm doing an op note dictated by an ESL and he's referring to a stapler that he's using to create the anastomosis in a laparoscopic gastric bypass. It sounds something like Acolumn, Ecolint or Acumint stapler. I'm so stumped and would welcome any hints on how to figure out what the heck he's saying!

Can someone tell me whether aortoiliac bypass graft or aortic-iliac bypass graft is proper? I seem to find it both ways when I do a Google search. Is there a difference?

Subject: Anvil Test
I'm aware of an anvil test which is essentially hitting the calcaneus inferiorly (driving superiorly) of the supine patient to assess for a fracture (described as a femoral neck fracture). I guess at astretch you could extend this to fractures about the knee.
Anvil grasper
Subject: Anvil grasper
I would likely say this is an anvil grasper, given the context and type of surgery. If you listen to it again with this word in mind, you may hear it.
