Actually they are two different things, according to my sources. The PICC (peripherally inserted central catheter) is inserted to the vena cava, thus it is "central." The PIC (peripherally inserted catheter) is inserted locally, not to the vena cava. I actually had one of these, it was in my AC space. PICC is the term that is used unless they specify local. If anyone has any other info I would be interested to hear it. Thanks.

The dictator says "PICC line should be placed with---s/l measuring of CAT??-- q.4 hours. If this helps, the pt dx was respiratory failure, is on ventilator which assist control rate is slowly being decreased and is being continued on propofol.

that the doctor will use a dye or ink of some kind to mark a spot where they remove a polyp or see something, so that they can locate the area more readily on followup.

there must be two openings in the nasal cavity. Ostium means opening. Meatus means opening also. So if it is as you say, then ostium (opening) meatal (opening) complex is what you are referring to. Plus that, there is no such word as ostio.
I was referring to the osteum (bone) and meatus (opening) or the osteomeatal complex of the nose.
