Subject: PACS system
Many, many hospitals use the PACS system and well as imaging centers. It is the electronic digital system that allows the x-rays to be viewed on a computer screen as opposed to the old school view box. They usually have an PACS administrator that oversees all problems related with the system. It now has an added dictation/transcription portion that can be purchased to go along with the system. If you are doing Radiology transcription PACS is a word you will hear alot, not so much in dictation but in film storage, etc.

Subject: PACS
This is the digital x-ray system most hospitals now use. I'm positive it's PACS and stands for something like Patient Archiving Communication System. You know, no more x-rays on film but digitized. You get to carry a CD to your next doc instead of big floppy copies of your films. Don't feel badly that you didn't know it. I asked THREE different radiology techs at 2 different local hospitals when I first heard it, and none of them knew it! Had to find a radiology department head to get it. Rosie

Below is the paragraph. Cannot find s/l Nuez, news?
The patient would like to get his s/l Nuez system again. This is basically an erectile dysfunction system that I have prescribed before. It is an older system, but it worked very well for him. I would much rather him do that than use an oral drug. So I wrote him for that today as well.
Thanks in advance.

Subject: Which system?
Sorry for such a stupid question that I should know, but I am drawing an absolute complete blank on this one (just one of those dementia moments)...In physical exam what system would I list this under. I'm drawing a blank thinking maybe genitalia, pelvic, rectal or what (none of it looks right to me). I've been sitting staring at it for about 10 minutes now and have just confused myself. This is the info...

I'm transcribing an op note for a biventricular defibrillator implantation dictated by an ESL. If I'm understanding him correctly, he says, "A rapid advance system was utilized to cannulate the coronary sinus."
I've checked my references and googled to see if this rapid advance system is a brand name and can't seem to locate it. Is anyone familiar with it?

That's right. Here is an interview with Professor Christopher Elston, who invented the system. He's saying it's a grading system, and what that means to us is use arabic:
