Questioned it
Subject: Questioned it

I would have questioned it too, with the patient being 11 years old.  However, I am used to doing psych reports, and an 11-year-old having alcohol cravings is quite common for me to hear.  Sad isn't it?

According to Stedman's Abbreviations...FACT would be either: Flanagan Aptitude Classification Test or Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy. Is that what you are looking for? You did not specify what it was, so just taking a stab at this.

that she has not been ejected from this forum. MT Chat is where I'll be hanging out and mentoring MTs. It's professional, and one must register before being able to post.

Again, I apologize for MRS. She embarrasses us all.

"melanotic" stool--fact or fiction??
Subject: "melanotic" stool--fact or fiction??

Okay, when I was in transcription training I got this wrong--supposedly there is no such word as "melanotic," at least when it refers to stool.  And yet when I google it, I find it. What's the final word on this term from all you experienced MTs out there?? Is it "melanotic" or "melenic" or neither one??

Based on the value (5.3) and the fact that it is listed with the electrolytes, could be potassium.

he never again mentions the left tonsil.  Even at the end of the dictation when he says the plan is to rule out a right peritonsillar abscess.  Same thing he said in chief complaint, except there he said "left".  Oh well....I flagged it and I'll let QA make the change.

Thanks for the advice.
