shotty --like birdshot or gunshot, small and pebbly feeling (refers generally to lymph nodes).
shoddy--sloppy construction--really never seen in a medical report unless referring to the work someone produces.

Subject: I never said that I transcribed that word ~ I only mentioned that the doctor (sm)
spelled it that way (I always left a blank in the report ~ he would always "write" it in when he got the report back). This was many, many years ago when I worked in-house. I honestly thought it was a "made-up" word as he was the only doctor who used it (I have never heard it used since), so I was surprised to hear of somebody else stumbling onto the same word (or something similar). By no means did I intend to mean that that was the "correct" spelling or that I used that word ~ I apologize if that is how my message was read. :)
This word I bet is appendix and cecum combined by a doctor with his own vocabulary.

I'm no expert but if one observes posters.....you see how many people thank someone for something on the board(s). You look for *patterns*......
I also had the pleasure of meeting webmasters/mistresses (people who own/run websites) when I first got online so I learned it from the inside out a bit.
Be careful online, I will say that....and that boards are notorious for hit-and-run types of posters. Let me add that the administrator and moderators here keep it together better than most websites I have experienced back in those days!!
And people like me.....watch and observe, and I'm not a webmaster/mistress by any stretch of the imagination. You'll catch on rather quickly might I add......everyone eventually does.
Best luck!!

...Dictator simply gives visual acuity statistics in prior sentence, then states "The ________ visual field exam is intact." I got two of these reports one right after another, first time ever doing this dictator or this specialty. While researching for the second time I actually waited to get the detail report on the prior chart so I could see what QA had entered - waste of time! They left it blank too.
Of course this dictator also lists drugs like "Actone" (probably Actonel) and grossly mispronounced several others, so who knows? Motalakian, tularakian....weird!

questioning whether either was 1 word, but if they had 2 separate meanings; i.e.; patellAfemoral versus patellOfemoral. I've seen it written both way on a Google search.
From what I've just been reading, patellAfemoral syndrome relates more to knee conditions with: cartilage damage; menisci, ligament and capsular damage; a sequelae after patellar fracture, dislocation or subluxation; sequelae after knee surgery; quadriceps tendinitis; iliotibial band friction syndrome; pre-and infrapatellar bursitis; and pesanserinus bursitis.
Thanks again for your interest.
