It's in the OED under "more"

f. With ellipsis of the word or sentence modified. Now freq. with anaphoric so (see SO adv. 4a) in more so (also, chiefly U.S., moreso). (all) the more: the rather, the more so (as, because, etc.).

I was recently told by my boss that "moreso" is one word.  I have always done it as 2 words.  Does anyone know which one is correct per the AMA?

No AAMT directive, but dictionary.com does not even show the one-word form as an alternative, it just directs you to "more so".

You could pass this link to your MTSO, or just do what they say since they sign your checks. At least you can have the satisfaction knowing better.

More so -vs- Moreso
Subject: More so -vs- Moreso

Although cheap dictionaries don't include "moreso" - as one word - its use is documented by the OED. Most authoritative sources fail to acknowledge the word as one word. Using 'moreso' or 'more so' is dependent on the meaning desired. For example, "You had some food but I'll give you more so you don't starve". Two words. "I hate cleaning the septic tank. My hoity-toity cousin hates it moreso than I." One word.

Two words is correct. One word may be correct. Nonetheless, "more so" is widely accepted - moreso than "moreso".

YUK! How about 'I hate cleaning the septic tank. My hoity-toity cousin hates it more than I do.'

Regardless of whether we consider 'moreso' or 'more so' the correct term, there is no excuse for shoehorning it into a sentence where 'more' is more(so???) appropriate. It doesn't look clever, just confused and pretentious.
Is it moreso or more so? Which is correct.
