Funny thing-l was checking Medilexicon for it and it also stands for "Chinese Hamsters with Spontaneous Diabetes" and "Chinese Hamsters of the Asahikawa Colony" although these do not match the letters in the acronym. I've worked for a lot of orthopods as both an MT and an editor over the years and I don't think I've ever heard one of them define what CAM actually stood for.
It's not even very easy to find out what those letters mean via any source.
I've made a note of "controlled ankle motion" just for my own personal information, but if any of my docs dictate "CAM" then I would give them exactly that: CAM

I don't think I would want to type that in my report like that. I will have to have to see what the Vac part stands for and find out if I can substitute the real words for that abbreviated slang. But yup, that's what the ESL must have meant, though I think he said it with the word air in there.
