Using a colon mark as you have in your examples does not break those lines into 2 separate sentences.

Members in family: 5

This would be correct because it is not 2 separate sentences.

Recast the sentence (if your employer says you can) for instances where the number starts the sentence. Example -- If they dictate the sentence starting with 5 mg of lidocaine then recast it to state: Lidocaine, 5 mg, was ....
