I think you missed the point.

We all know what they mean. It's trying to decipher what the doc is saying when they barely open their mouths or are talking a mile a minute. When they say hyper___ or hypo____ and then never mention it again in the dictation, what to do? I think that's what she meant.

board.  I know what you mean - I've had second thoughts about taking the time, too, because some people have such nasty attitudes - but, as we were saying before, it kind of helps to keep the mind working - and I like to help. Take care of yourself - hope to "see" you on the board at some point.

Subject: Your posted reply....SM...if you missed it in your e-mail inbox...

For your info.

--I haven't done ops in more than 15 yrs.

--I was hired to do discharge summaries. Instead, I was started on this new job tonight with 5 dictations to start. The first 3 up were--OPS!!!.

--There was no one to call at the company to look into or correct this situation at this hour, so I decided to forge ahead and do my best regardless.

--I posted asking for help, not for someone to be snide and to tell me how wrong I am and how they're not going to type it for me.

--In future, do us both a favor: Don't reply to any of my posts. I certainly won't be reading or replying to any of yours and I promise not to miss you--regardless of whether you have the guts to sign your real name or not.

EKG help - J Point
Subject: EKG help - J Point

Cardio doc dictates EKG as follows:

EKG demonstrates normal sinus rhythm at 61 beats per minute with normal axes, normal intervals, J point elevation 1 and 0; otherwise, no ischemic changes.

But just not sure on how to type the 1and 0 or if he is saying 0, but sounds for sure like 1.  Anyone with any ideas.  This is a new one on me?  Any help appreciated!!!

Sometimes I think you can get to the point where
Subject: Sometimes I think you can get to the point where

Someone new at this might have to look-up a lot things.  Sometimes you just get to the end of your rope with researching especially when the doc isn't sounding too clear or the word is slurred.  We must support one another though not tear each other down.  Why can't people just go by the old saying of "if you do not have something nice to say then do not say anything at all".  To come off like a know it all proves what?  Absolutely nothing in my opinion.  Not everyone is up on everything.

Although he does mention "near the perforation" later in the report.

My point is, docs sometimes use the abbreviations they use in speaking in their reports as well. Most of the time I will type them out, but it bugs me either way - I like to type verbatim and not add anything the doc didn't say, but if he says it wrong, what are you going to do? (Except maybe leave him a message.)

11-year-old with neurofibromatosis, autism, and behavioral disorder. Doc states, "He is on a multiplicity of medications including lithium, S/L hel-a-trek-sone, Abilify, gabapentin, and Trileptal.

He very clearly states this drug just like the S/L above, but I am finding nothing of the sort. Thanks for looking!
