Chief complaint: "My leg went gurgely-gook-gook-boom"
Not a joke folks, that is exactly what the doc says! Now, would I find that in the medical dictionary or the English dictionary? Maybe Wikipedia knows something about it? LOL
What would you do with that? Is there a guideline for nonsense?

cc. I have the latest BOS and BOS workbook and I'm still confused.
My account has a few doctors whose work is automatically sent to QA. I thought we were no longer supposed to use cc and change it to mL. I had marked as error when I changed doctor stated cc to mL. I then asked one of the mentors on my account and she stated mL is used for what goes into the patient, IV, blood products, etc., and cc is used for what comes out of the patient, urine etc.
Is there any consensus on this? I trust all of you here.

I have had doctors, very brilliant ones while practicing their craft, speak horrible grammar, and I have been told by many, many supervisors and HIM personnel, even in college, that if a doctor uses the correct term but just the incorrect grammatical form, as long as you check with your supervisor, it is correct to make that one change, you are not changing the context one bit, nor changing the doctor's medical knowledge, just making it read much better, seem much more intelligent, for the doctor's wellbeing, as other doctors, personnel, lawyers, etc, get to read the report, and every doctor wants to be well-represented. I have a dear, very old Swedish pediatric gastroenterologist/professor who often will say "poops" when fishing for the words stools or defecates....my boss is more than happy to have me replace that appropriately, as is the doctor himself, ESL is tough!
