A KUB, and abdomen series, and of course a barium enema (which can be done with air contrast as well). And a CT or MRI of the pelvis, of course.
But it would be unusual to just state "no air in the rectum" unless the doctor is discussing a bowel obstruction or something similar. Can you give us more context?

X-rays reveal severe destruction of the right knee with collapse and osteonecrosis of his medial femoral condyle and no cartilage remaining on his proximal s/l tibial medial compartment either.
tibial wasn't clear...also sounded like it could have been 'through the'
I googled the whole phrase proximal tibial medial compartment, but got no results. I have never heard those words put together like that before. Any suggestions?

I think you might be looking for perilimbal (refers to area around the limbus)
It is white. They use acetic acid to stain the area and if there is anything there it turns white.
