Seven Flowers is an anti-hypertensive Chinese herbal formula that may nutritionally help lower blood pressure, lower lipid and cholesterol levels, and have a calming effect on the body, without the usual side effects. Many people have found great relief with Seven Flowers. They sleep better, live calmer and relate to stress better. This rare, all natural flower extract formula triggers mechanisms which mobilize the body's own biochemical makeup. It contains a proprietary blend of: Black Moss, Chrysanthemum, Honeysuckle, Radix Notoginseng, Sophora Japonica, Prunella Vulgaris and Cleistocalyx Operculatus.
Adults take 2-3 tablets 2 or three times a day or as directed.

Quick Look Electronic Drug Reference. You can get it from a lot of places. I saw it on stedmans.com and amazon.com just to name a couple. I saw it on walmart.com bundled with the paperback. I don't have the book, just the CD, so I can't say anything about that, but it would probably be nice to have. The CD has helped me a lot. I just discovered recently the "sounds like" feature on searching where you can type in how the drug name sounds with a tilde (~) at the end and it will give a list of close matching drugs. That's the best!

I am not a "certified" medical transcriptionist and I am new to this field of work. However, I take pride in my work. I work for a transcription service locally. One of the best things I learned from my administrator is to use Google as my search engine. If you are not sure what you are hearing, you can type what it sounds like. If Google does not find an exact match it will ask "Do you mean __________?" (and it fills in what it might be) 98-99% of the time. I usually resolve the question within a minute or two. This has helped be TREMENDOUSLY. My intention is not to brag; my first attempts were horrible, but my administrator gave me a few suggestions and I took it from there. I just want to share something that has helped me so much as an MT. My administrator has told me that is is a pleasure to open up my work to proof. She has had several "experienced MTs" do some work that wasn't as good as mine turned out and I have only been doing this for less than a year. I also did some research on the internet. I found a site that is an Online Medical Transcription Course that I use as a tool. There is a lot of information there that helped me also. The site is: http://mttutorial.blogspot.com/

Excerpt from Bee and Hymenoptera Stings Synonyms, Key Words, and Related Terms: ant stings, wasp stings, vespid stings, bee envenomations, Hymenoptera envenomations, ant envenomations, wasp envenomations, vespid envenomations
Background: Hymenoptera stings account for more deaths in the United States than any other envenomation. Order Hymenoptera includes Apis species, ie, bees (European, African), vespids (wasps, yellow jackets, hornets), and ants. Although most deaths result from immunologic mechanisms, some are from direct toxicity. Severe anaphylactoid reactions occur occasionally when toxins directly stimulate mast cells. While the vast majority of stings cause only minor problems, stings cause a significant number of deaths. |

Hi!
I would probably make just a minor adjustment as I think he's talking about edema in both ankles:
EXTREMITIES: There is edema of the right ankle at the site of fracture times two, trace to 1+ on the left. Significantly diminished pulses, equal 0-1 DP and PT lower extremities bilaterally. Normal upper.
As for the rest....looks okay to me...not sure about the "equal" part - sorry! Good job!

Conus medullaris and the cauda equina are within the normal limits. Intervertebral disk at L4-5 has mildly diminished signal, indicating desiccation at its interspace.
FINDINGS: There is a mild bulge centrally with facet osteoarthropathy but no significant canal stenosis.
**I'm not 100% without actually hearing the dictation that interspace and facet osteoarthropathy are definite, but with years of rad experience that's the best guess I can make for ya, both would be acceptable in that context as you have listed it. But I at least FINALLY figured out blank #1 (bulge..not bone)!! Yipee! LOL Hope this helps ya!

I just cannot seem to get a grasp of this guy today. Pt is seen for congestive heart failure. Here are the sentences leading up to my problem:
We will check a BMP today to reevaluate renal function and, if he does have a markedly elevated creatinine, we may not be able to do this (referring to 64-slice CT angiography). I am hopeful that, with ___ and renal protection, we can get by with this. We will also plan on checking a TSH and baseline blood work, including a CBC and BNP for outpatient baseline.
Sounds like mucavest. I then thought of Mucomyst, but would like to know if anyone agrees because it does not make sense to me.
Thanks for any help!

Most of the ortho doctors I type for say medial and lateral joint line (or lines). I type what they say - if they say line, that's what they get, even if it seems like it should be lines. Same with medial and lateral versus mediolateral. I figure if I type what they say, I'm in the clear. With your example, if it sounds like he's saying medial lateral, I would type mediolateral, since it's the combining form for medial lateral.
As far as the lab, I would type it with the laboratory data. If there is no heading, I space it down one just to make is separate.

She had a trauma and then on her x-rays it looked like she may have an intermoody displaced lateral tibial plateau fracture as she was having pain bearing weight. Given that, I sent her for a CAT scan to evaluate it. She returns today saying she has been compliant, been nonweightbearing, and been in a knee immobilizer. She is now about two weeks out from the injury. Review of her CAT scan today shows that she does have a slight depression of the lateral tibial plateau.
