every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or MED 50 mg, one p.o. b.i.d. would mandate semicolons, and it's easier to use them to start with than go back and change them. I was taught to use semicolons; if you use comma you need to add the "and" at the end. This is very old school from the 1970s, though.

affect is a verb and effect is a noun. There are only 2 exceptions - when affect is used in psych reports referring to their general attitude and when effect is used as a verb meaning "to bring about" as in "to effect a change in someone". Try to keep it simple.

What does everyone else do these days?  Thanks.

Or is it a matter of preference? I was taught that you put semicolons between numbered lists that are "horizontal" as opposed to "vertical."

that's what they're asking about, as most of us make typos when we're just posting to one of the boards here, looking for a quick answer .... :-) But, just wanted to give you a heads-up that a few things might have needed a second look there. That kind of thing becomes second nature after a while, but it's worth spending the extra time on it when you're starting out.
