Ain't got nun and ain't gonna get nun...
Subject: Ain't got nun and ain't gonna get nun...

Sorry...excerpt from an old joke I heard at a comedy club in Boston once.

You are hearing it correctly.  Some people will refer to a preist or a nun as "Father" or "Sister" and leave out their name.  I met a priest once (just once) and I referred to him as just "Father" when I thanked him for doing whatever it is he did at my mother's wake.  (Can you tell I'm not religious?)  I didn't know his name or anything, and besides, that's what I heard everyone else around me call him.

I think the name Mary is just one of those many "good Irish-Catholic names"...kind of like the one I got stuck with but instead bury it with the name "Hayseed."

I don't think there's a way to determine for sure. The fact that "another doctor" said it was ACL doesn't mean that's what they've decided the problem is. On the other hand, he could have switched "ACL" with "LCL" (like they always do right and left, metatarsal/metacarpal, etc.) Don't think there's a way to tell for sure. Sorry!

Subject: wanna, gonna, he's

When i first got this account, I expanded contractions. Today I received a memo that I was supposed to type all words verbatim and not to add any extra words. I stopped expanding contractions, but this doctor is saying things like wanna, gonna, he's, there's... and then sometimes says want to, going to, he is, there is...

I feel so silly typing "gonna" and "wanna." Am I right to type these like this?

This is gonna sound nuts, but I knew a Clac product
Subject: This is gonna sound nuts, but I knew a Clac product

It was not a medication, rather an "environmentally friendly" fly repellent used on livestock and pets.  Here's a link to one of the product sites I found it on:
https://www.smartpakcanine.com/productclass.aspx?productClassId=1518&GCID=C11284x040

They no longer use the Clac name and have since renamed it Deo-Lotion.

I'll be interested on hearing what you finally find out about your patient!

I have a name that I can't understand in the document anyway (person's last name) and I can't find it to verify spelling - so it's got to go to QA anyway, I come back here and post if/when QA gets it in case someoen else ever has it. TY for those that tried looking also.

Doc may have meant take 2 tablets in the morning and said the q just as a habit. I would certainly question having to take Lexapro at 2 a.m. In my opinion, don't guess - flag it.

Seems obvious he meant ACL.

I have a doc who says stuff like that all the time...give a list of "this is normal, that is normal" only he says the same thing both times. I don't change it, I just flag it.

During CBC doctor says "counts of 7.7" Later in the sentence he says white count of 11,900. Would he be referring to RBC and should this be flagged for clarity????? It's unclear to me but then everything he says is. Thanks for your help.
sounds like you'd better flag it to me.

When I got to the exam, she only weighs 111 lbs, so that makes me even more concerned that he just got lazy and just said "5" because he definitely didn't say 0.5 or even .5, it was just 5. I hesitate on questioning things that could be borderline, I always worry about them getting huffy if I dare to suggest they might have said something wrong, especially if what they said was what they meant, but then I think, I work at home in another state and wouldn't know him from a hole in the ground, what's he going to do, come to my house?!?!?

dictating a medicine of Xanax 20 mg t.i.d.  I'm only an MT, not a pharmacist, but 20 mg sounds awfully high, especially when the doses are usually in the 0.5 to 2 mg range.  I checked and it comes in 0.25 mg up to 2 mg.  I'm just wondering if I should put a QA marker here and ask them to double check or if I should just type what I hear and let it go through.  Has anyone else heard of somebody being on this high of a dose of Xanax before?  Thanks!
