She advises that she was referred to the Osteoporosis Center at a nearby hospital, where bone densitometry studies were done and a diagnosis of osteoporosis involving the spine was made, but without evidence at that time of compression fracture.

The AAMT BOS Second Edition has too much about commas for me to type it all here (about four pages, and states that the rules for comma usage appear under a variety of topics throughout the book), but just wanted to point out that it does state, "Sometimes a comma must be used; sometimes it must not be used; sometimes its use is optional. Use commas when the rules require them and when they enhance clarity, improve readability, or diminish confusion or misunderstanding. Avoid their overuse."

Clear as mud, huh? Anyway, that, in a nutshell, is what makes commas difficult for many people, so don't feel like the Lone Ranger.
