I'm used to them saying 5-mm trocar or 12-mm trocar.
At this hospital the docs keep saying "Under direct vision, a 'five twelve -mm trocar' and sheath was advanced into the abdominal cavity."
It's singular. Whey are they using 2 numbers, and what is it they want?

This was in a GYN surgery report. Have searched everywhere and can't find it. I think I posted this the last time I had it and never got any responses. Anybody ever heard of this?

catheter, but then all switches over to Hasson - as in laparascope, port, grasper, etc. I just noticed this now!!! I'm proofing an exploratory lap - is it Hassan catheter introduced???? Thanks for help!!

and then nothing but Hasson everything else. Hassan catheter is cross referenced as well. Never saw it like that either. I have always found the Surgical Word Book to be very accurate. Oh well....Wish someone knew if there was a difference! There must be - but what is it?
