Need help with letter I am typing re platelet counts
Subject: Need help with letter I am typing re platelet counts
The studies demonstrated carotid artery disease but, also, she has a platelet count of 1004 k per cmm and persistent reduction in her hemoglobin and hematocrit at 9.4 and 31.5.
Does anyone know how to format this? I can't find the K at all in relation to these values, but doc is clearly saying, 1004 K per cmm. thank you.
re: Need help with letter I am typing re platelet counts
Subject: re: Need help with letter I am typing re platelet counts
K is abbreviation for thousands; also used as abbreviation for potassium. platelets are expressed in thousands.
I think the 1004 k/cmm should be expressed this way.

I'm taking a poll. I typed Gamma knife in an op report. I looked it up in Tessier The Surgical Word Book to confirm that the G is capitalized, which it was when used with knife. I had numerous 'typo' QAs and it was changed to gamma knife.

Subject: s/l Habeeb Technology/Probe
The doctor was dictating an op note, resection of liver mets and RF ablation of liver mets. First he refers to "using Habeeb Technology" and then later he refers to a "Habeeb probe." I checked all my reference books and googled every combination I could imagine until I finally gave up andI sent it on to QA, but cannot check to see what he was saying until this evening, and quite frankly, I am really curious if anyone has heard of this before? He is an ESL so I may be totally off base with it.
