Wound care evaluation, patient has a leg wound. I find gaiter, but doctor specifically spells if "gaitor," and spells it every time he dictates it, which is it?

Doctor states "nonhealing wound to the left gaitor." He spells it this way, is this correct. It comes up in spellchecker as misspelled.
