From the time I took medical terminology, I always thought of:

dysphasia=difficulty speaking because of the "s" instead of "g", as in "speech".

dysphagia=difficulty swallowing because of the "g" instead of "s", as in "laryngeal".

Probably sounds weird, but keeps me from having to look it up!

A doc wouldn't ever say "percussion tenderness" when referring to extremities would they?  I've heard it when referring to abdomen or spine.  I'm totally reaching and would love to hear what they are saying...such a mystery!

a doc say "derbis" for "debris" and another say "aspirational pneumonia" instead of "aspiration pneumonia," but that does not make the docs correct. WE must know the difference which is the reason WE need mentoring for years after going to school and need proper references for our field, not Google.

You listed polynephritis Google references which are incorrect. Don't understand your followup.

However, it really sounds like she is dictating "Carter pillow" but I had never heard of one before so I really wanted to double check. That most likely has to be it but I'm still debating putting a blank. I'll listen a few more times and most likely use that. Thanks so much! :)
