Is there a preferred way to type all the sutures? Like would you type #0 PDS or just 0 PDS and then what about 4-0 Dexon, would it be #4-0?

I work for a hospital so all docs are different. One always says "number four O", etc. Some just say "four O" I have always went with the 4-0 without the # sign before it. Others use the # sign so I was wondering if I was wrong or if it was just a preference. Thanks

change context or meaning of sentence at all, just grammatically correct; but as always it is good to check with your own QA, some companies have their own weird little rules whey want to go by.....been doing mostly OPs for years, so hope I can help!

I have always just put 0 chromic in the past, but now know that zero is never to be type 0 by itself. How does everybody else transcribe it? Don't want to get dinged later for it. Thanks in advance.

I have a doc who is repairing a finger laceration. He says he used 4 simple interrupted 5.0 nylon sutures. Does he mean 5-0 nylon sutures, or is there such a thing as a 5.0 nylon suture?

Skin was approximated with continuous (s/l lap) sutures of 5-0 nylon. 
This is an op note on a patient's toes.
