but she didn't pronounce the R. She didn't give me a single other word to describe this particular item. It seemed so strange to use a brand name that is on all these different things instead of calling it by the actual noun. She's the first one I've had use the term by itself.
It reminds of of the MD who said the patient takes "Equate." LOL.

I'm transcribing an op note for a biventricular defibrillator implantation dictated by an ESL. If I'm understanding him correctly, he says, "A rapid advance system was utilized to cannulate the coronary sinus."
I've checked my references and googled to see if this rapid advance system is a brand name and can't seem to locate it. Is anyone familiar with it?

This is a patient admitted for a hysterectomy and salpingo-oophorectomy. Here is the sentence that makes no sense, this is an ESL, too.
A focus was then placed ** after careful** level of the angle of the mandible, probably to presented dental disease or some mandible node.
The sentence before: A PET scan showed the primary FDG-Avid located probably in the cervix, and no evidence of regional metastatic disease, no evidence of distant metastatic disease.

What about dates, when they dictate like 06/30/2006 or whatever. I used to have to spell it out in the hospitals I transcribed, has that changed too... looks like I'd better buy a new book (just what I want to do). TIA

that anything else I've thought of. Thanks! Except that sounds like a procedure. Maybe injectable glucose ??One instance is in the plan, they'll say, "IGMO sliding scale". I blanked it about 20 times because I couldn't document it but never got any feedback, so now I just type IGMO and haven't had any feedback from that either.

I actually corrected a radiologist to her face because she was using that very term incorrectly, just like your dictator! She admitted she'd had a discussion with a professor in school about that word, and I could tell she couldn't understand it when he explained it and couldn't understand me either! She didn't think I was right, but she finally said she didn't care if I changed it! I was appalled that somebody with an MD & I think a PhD couldn't get the concept! What a nut!
