Subject: Bioequivalent hormones- never heard back from QA and would love to know...

patient is taking bioequivalent hormones (had a TAH/BSO)

Doctor states "She takes 15D-E2 0.6/E32/P 50 MG/8 drops and PDHEA, 25 mg capsules, 1 a day"

(if anyone can help me- how would you type that? What in the world is she referring to? I would be eternally grateful)

bioidentical hormones
Subject: bioidentical hormones

Many physicians use an estrogen combination called "Tri-Est" which combines the advantages of estriol with the potency of estrone and estradiol in a ratio of 80%-10%-10%.

There is also a Bi-est.

These are bioidentical hormones, like Suzanne Somers has been talking about...

I found articles pertaining to LH levels done in the elderly to check pituitary hormones etc.
Subject: I found articles pertaining to LH levels done in the elderly to check pituitary hormones etc.

"In women, although
not in all studies (22), a decline in both FSH and LH levels
occurs with age after menopause (19, 23), and decreased
gonadotropins secretion with age is also observed in aged
men (24)..."

I guess it would depend on what you patient is being studied for. It may not be LH at all? Sorry

it really saddens (and scares me) when I get blasted for using BOS as a reference. BOS is not perfect, but it's what we have as our chief reference, and it is answering many of the questions posed here.

Kathleen, thanks for the link. Sure will be helpful.

This is what a good forum is all about, helping each other and learning. Even with years of experience I love it that I can learn something new (and try to) every day.

That's exactly what it is.  This doc is from Croatia, so sometimes his pronounciation completely throws me.  I only have two guys with accents - Croatia and Turkey, so all in all I'm really, really fortunate.  Tonight, my brain had just shut down.

Thank you so much!!!

i think it's because "small" and "moderate" are COMPARATIVE ADJECTIVES and the grammar experts say not to use a hyphen with comparative or superlative adjectives...geez...language is so weird, and MT is so hard, hyphens are the LEAST of our worries, yes? =)

Either this word was a new one on me or I just have not typed it in ages.  The doctor was ESL so he was hard to understand.

Word for the day?

Refractoloxanticomb (brain) though it won't come up in Google unless you separate the refract and xanticomb.

I think, if they truly do take an English 101 course, they must also take a "made up medical terminology class".  LOL.

Subject: love google but they are wrong on many things..s/m

I use google 24/7 but then you must double-check where the information is actually coming from, a legitimate (NIH) medical website or a bulletin board or some website that isn't regulated by any medical group, understand?  I remember first googling Spironolactone and google had it misspelled!  So, I make sure the info is coming from rxlst.com or drugs.com or any govt-regulated site....

Hope that helps.  Orthopedics was my first field 29 years ago and it's always been patellofemoral, all relating to what you described while asking about patellAfemoral (as I know it, no such word with the a).

If I am wrong, I am sure to get flamed *lol*
