... crepitance is a word.  Crepitus, crepitance and crepitation are all synonyms.  Crepitant is the adjective form of the word.  "Crepitants" is not a word, which makes sense since you can't turn an adjective into a plural word.  BOS acknowledges that "crepitance" is not found in dictionaries, but its frequent usage has made it acceptable. 


Additionally, I found a number of hits for crepitance on both google and ask.com.  Specifically, it is used to describe a situation involving gas ganrene in subcutaneous tissues.
