that fixated was not a work to be used except in the sense of "John's attention was fixated on nude statue". When a doc says he fixated the plate to the bone, I was taught to change it to fixed. Now I am starting to second guess as so many docs use it in this way. Anyone can chime in here. I am so confused.

I was taught that a fraction without a whole number is typed out, and if it has a whole number then it is expressed as numerals. You might want to check in the AAMT Book of Style though.

If it were a 30 degree angle or something, I would type it 30-degree. If it is 30 degrees, I would type it like that without the hyphen.

if they say fixated they get it. Many things have changed over the years, dilation and dilatation being used interchangeably comes to mind.

It sounds like it might be spondylolisthesis, which would be descriptive of the L5-S1 joint; where as anterolisthesis refers to a subluxation of one vertebral body upon another would be stated as "there is anterolisthesis of L5 on S1"
