Another argument based on false premise.
underpinnings of our democracy? Here's a clue just for you. What is the function of the Supreme Court? Since when do the 3 branches of our govt NOT interpret the constitution? This has absolutely nothing to do with Obama and everything to do with the ignorance you seem to feel compelled to display, and dern proudly, I might add.

Before you try to tell the rest of us how we should be thinking and such, perhaps you should be addressing your own severe afflictions, starting with your blind hatred.
Fact Based or Faith Based Policies...sm
Click watch video in the link.

Most impressive statement is how the Bush administration has gotten away from fact based policy making.
Once again, semantics -- is that all you got?
sounds like ...Maybe you should look up the definition of semantics, because it sounds like your not very knowledgeable in vocabulary or word usage and inferred intent.
semantics
One basic fact that not many think about but it still holds true:  If there had NOT been racism, hatred and bigotry in this country agains blacks and other minorities - do you think there would have EVER been a need to enact legislation and PASS LAWS  to protect those very people from being discriminated against in THE FIRST PLACE?.  Racism has been prevalent in this country for hundreds of years and to have the nonchalant attitude regarding your remark about black people still living in the past COULD be insulting but it is not even worth commenting on anymore.  I feel sorry for you.
Not semantics - Law. There was a need for the Civil Rights
movement of the 50s and 60s.  That movement did the job and now it is all water under the bridge.  Quit whining about slavery and mistreatment.  Quit living in the past.  That's all African-American's based their votes on in this election, was the past and skin color.  It's racism and ignorance pure and simple.  The hypocrisy is the democrats/liberals and their message of tolerance.  Now it's the whites that are disciminated against and all tolerance is gone.
Socialized health care = semantics...
what it boils down to is, when you have the federal government start administering all health care, quality of care will go down, not up, and access to care will be even more difficult. You cited Medicare and Medicaid...both rife with waste and fraud. We read about it every other day. The VA system for soldiers is federally run...tell me how well THAT is working, and that is not for every person in the US. I would like a poll of rank and file Canadians...I would like to know what individuals think of their health system. The only one I saw quoted said 55% of his paycheck is taken off the top for taxes, and a large part of that is what funds the health care system. There ARE waiting lists for operations. And even if you have the money privately to pay for your own operation if time constraint is involved, you are NOT allowed to jump the "list." That is why many Canadians cross the border for emergent care and surgery. Just a couple of weeks ago there was the story of the two women with high-risk pregnancies who could not be hospitalized because there was nowhere to put them. They ended up in Seattle.

So no thanks. I would much rather have a full cost of premiums tax refund, which is what some have proposed. Yeah, you will still have to cough up the premiums for a year, but then if you take your refund at the end of the year and put it in the bank...voila. There are your premiums for the next year. And we can keep the quality of care we have and the access we have.

That would be my choice, far, far ahead of any kind of federal government subsidized and administered health care...which is what Hillary is proposing, only calling it "universal" instead of socialized. Same difference.
Semantics versus common sense...
As I mentioned previously, the phrase I mentioned was "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness," which is in the Declaration of Independence, not the Constititution. I never mentioned citizens at all, and neither did that phrase.

What I did say is that the law of this land - and any country I am aware of - protects human life, and I'm pretty sure there is little argument that a pregnant woman is always pregnant with a human life...not a gopher, a lampshade, or a pickle. There has never been a human pregnancy that produced anything other than a human being. We (human beings) have laws to protect other human beings. I just don't understand why some people don't think unborn human beings should be included in that protection. Hiding behind religious differences, constitutional "technicalities," and "live and let live" rhetoric doesn't negate the fact that human beings give birth to human beings, and if you kill that human being - any human being, either in the womb or out, it is wrong, ethically, morally, by all human standards and all human laws in all countries of which I am aware.

Word, semantics, when socialist doesn't scare...sm
people enough, it gets elevated to communist and nazi just being inflammatory. We are Americans first, democrats and republicans second, period.
Weak and willing?
At least she is well-versed on the issues and doesn't bash like some "radical" posters out there.  Gimme a break.  Oh, I'm sorry.  Are you too weak and willing?  Didn't think so.
Yes, we are weak. nm

That's weak...
The laws do not affect you.  The only way that law would affect anyone is if they chose to marry their partner of the same sex.  You have always had the choice to marry whomever you choose as long as they are of the opposite sex.  HOW WOULD IT AFFECT YOU PERSONALLY?  No one seems to be able to answer that.
weak

and ineffective.

Be weak?....(sm)
Since when has showing restraint and exercising morals been weak?
indeed, other than a few weak

statements from a few muslims that *islam is a religion of peace* where are the denunciations of the actions of radical muslims?

i think jews, christians and muslims probablyy all worship the very same god by different means and with differing degrees of zealotry or tolerance.  try explaining the trinity to a jew or muslim, and how that actually does not mean there are 3 gods.

just as that god did not step in and stop some of the horrors committed in his name by christians, he will not do so when muslims commit them.  it is up to us to police ourselves.  don't be looking for god to smite anybody real soon...

How much more weak
can you get than to not care about the unborn on this planet? I don't believe God makes any of us suffer. I believe most suffering is brought on by ourselves. Drugs, cigarettes, alcohol, unhealthy diet, along with multiple other abuses all in the name of "doing what feels good." We suffer because of our own choices which God gives us freely. He didn't create robots. So why shouldn't the unborn be allowed to have the privilege of suffering like the rest of us? ;-)
Like I said, weak enough to follow

We are weak - see message
I believe we are weak because people would rather sit around and watch Survivor, American Idol and other reality & TV shows than to do something and stand up to government. I have a 32yo BIL who believes that his 14 year old niece should go to war and not him because he works at a hi tech company and is too important and too intelligent to be in the military, and there are literally thousands of people in this country who think like him. Americans (not all but a majority) will not do without. They live in the now (gimmee gimmee gimmee, I want I want I want). As for our government I honestly do not know what to think. These are the same people who gave a 700M bail out the other week and now upon finding out the companies who received the bail outs are not using them to help the people (the reason they were intended for), but instead they are pocketing the money for themselves and taking lavish holidays at resorts with thousand dollar "spa" retreats, and walking away with $90M bonuses. And the government is not demanding the money back or for them to use it for what it was intended for. I think a lot of democratic politicians think the same way Obama does (or close to it) and they will give Obama whatever he wants. My grandfather who was in WWII told me that when war started up everyone signed up. They all wanted to serve and they knew it meant the could be killed in action. Now adays nobody feels the same patriotism they did back then. He said patriotism is a lot more than hanging a flag from your car or in front of your house. So I do believe a lot of America (not all but a lot) is weak.
Right. This seems a very weak choice.
nm
just fodder for the weak
truthfully, no ill will intended. It's so easy to manipulate the weak - they get all bound up and ATTACK. Do I care? Not in the least. Do they pay my rent? Not this month. I enjoy the bitter nastiness of those who have nothing else to offer. Nobody REALLY wants to have polite discourse, they just want to attack anything that does not meet their idealology - quite amusing, really. All it takes is an inane comment......

Thanks for posting.
Pretty weak charge if you ask me.

It'll probably be dropped in a few days but not until the media is allowed to have their way with them, and the liberal bloggers tar and feather him.  Does anyone remember travelgate and the Clinton land deal scandals.  I'm sure you dems/liberals don't recall that at all....

Before you start condemning one Republican politician to hell you better take a look into your own party's closet.

Hmm, this confuses me. It is the meek (not weak)
Difference in meaning, with meek meaning humble, docile, compliant and weak meaning no strength, vigor, or spiritually lacking strength.

This post seems written by someone else, someone who believes in God and the teachings of Jesus, but your other posts are borderline mean toward conservative voters, many of whom are Christians with Christian ideals very much like the ones you claim to possess in the above post. This seems very contradictory and as such, almost disingenuous.
Not only that, she is a HEALTH reporter and

you could tell that Joe Biden really did think she was joking because the question was so ridiculous, about Obama being a Marxist.  No wonder these things get so inflated by the right-wing media.  Ridiculous questions don't deserve to be acknowledged.  What a waste of time. Someone needs to ask SP why her own home newspaper in Anchorage is supporting Obama, because she is considered too risky to be in a position a heartbeat away from the Oval Office, and the McCain campaign aides have referred to her a rogue diva.  Ouch, that must have hurt!  Now there are some FACTS for you!!

Ha Ha Ha on the Maddow reporter
That is too funny.

Thank you for the clarification about the troops issue. I do appreciate it. You know when I post things they are usually from things I read or hear on the TV with how I feel about the situation. Lots of posts I read below that is what people do. I don't have "selective hearing" or "selective posting". If I'm angry about a situation or I feel I have been lied to about something I'll say it and I will say it on both sides too. I don't like either side and I think both sides have lied to us. One side is no better than the other. I honestly do believe we have been lied to by Obama and he's just ignoring it as in telling us "so what, what are you going to do about it". All the way from his cabinet choices, to the spending bill he just signed, etc, etc (but that is for a different post I guess). Anyway...like I say those are my opinions. I guess what really gets to me is when I vote for someone thinking they are the better choice and then they get in and you go, wait a minute here, that's not right. I didn't vote for you so you would hire back on the Clinton's cabinet people. I voted against Hillary to keep them out. Just very maddening.

Anyway...thanks for the info JTBB. I always enjoy your posts whether I agree or not. I think you bring up some good topics and thoughts.
"spook" came from the reporter...sm
who I would venture to say was liberal leaning. The original email went out under the "Keepsake" line.
What you are seeing below is a weak attempt at damage control 101...

That announcement sucked all the air out of the big speech, everyone is talking about Sarah Palin, not Barack Obama.  And the best they can do is take potshots at Alaska and that she was in a beauty pageant...and oh I thought the rampaging moose thing was REALLLYYYYY funneeeee.  Obama is not the only one front and center that people are excited about...and if these folks think the PUMA folks are going to fall into line because the DNC tells them to....they have another think coming.  Just my opinion of course....

i agree. It makes McCain look weak and
what a great leader he would make...McBush...
A "different approach". Go ahead, be weak.

A television news reporter said they

You betcha, and he sent his reporter to Harlem...
to ask the questions. I found it very interesting that not one person knew anything about Obama but his name and his race. Pretty telling.
Did you see the video of the conversation with the Fox reporter?
The BP was not a very nice guy
I didn't know Obama was a reporter...(sm)

How this story was covered by either side is not the point.  Or, on second thought, maybe it is.  In case you haven't noticed, this is the kind of thing that Obama is trying to overcome - bipartisan politics.  Did I call them neocons?  Yes, because most of them are self-proclaimed neocons.  But who ended up calling Obama a nazi?  Hmmmm.

As noted in the OP, if you did not like the source provided, you could look it up through a media source that is more to your liking.  Maybe you couldn't find this story in conservative media.  Why do you think that is?

Jack Cafferty says the House violated a pledge to make stimulus bill public 48 hours before vote.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- What a joke. Your Congress has voted to spend almost $790 billion of your money on a stimulus package that not a single member of either chamber has read.

The 1,073-page document wasn't posted on the government's Web site until after 10 p.m. the day before the vote to pass it was taken. I don't care if you're Evelyn Wood, you can't read almost 1,100 pages of the lawyer talk that makes up all legislation in eight or 10 hours.

The criminal part of this boondoggle is divided into two parts. The first is the Democrats promised to post the bill a full 48 hours before the vote was taken to allow members of the public to see what they were getting for their money. Both parties voted unanimously to do this ... and they lied.

It didn't happen. Why am I not surprised? Congress lying to the American people has become part of their job description. They can't be trusted on anything anymore.

I'm sure part of the reason there was no time for the public to read the bill was the 11th-hour internecine warfare between House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

When Reid first announced the compromise had been reached, Nancy Pelosi was nowhere to be seen. And it would take an act of God for this egotistical, arrogant woman to miss a photo op where she could take credit for anything. But she wasn't there.

She summoned Reid to her office, where unnamed sources said she blew her top over some provision for schools that she wasn't happy with. Pelosi's snit delayed everything.

* In Depth: Commentaries

It's really too bad President Obama couldn't figure out a way to jettison these two who are poster children for everything that is wrong in Washington. The Associated Press called the birth of the stimulus bill "sausage making" in the best tradition of Washington politics as usual.

The second part of the crime is the contents of the bill itself. Far from being only about jobs, infrastructure and tax cuts as promised, the stimulus bill stimulates a bunch of other stuff as well. Eight billion dollars for high-speed rail lines, including a proposed line between Las Vegas and Los Angeles. This little bit of second story work wasn't even in the House version of the bill.

It started in the Senate as a $2 billion project, and came out of the conference committee costing a whopping $8 billion. Gee, now who would that benefit? Oh yeah, the Senate majority leader is from Nevada.

Filipino veterans, most of whom don't live in the U.S., will get $200 million in compensation for World War II injuries. And: $2 billion in grants and loans for battery companies, $100 million for small shipyards and a rollback of the alternative minimum tax at a cost of some $70 billion.

The AMT provision is much-needed legislation, but it doesn't belong in the stimulus bill. It forced other things out so Congress could keep to its self-imposed $800 billion cap.

And when it comes to the tax cuts contained in the stimulus bill, experts have determined they will amount to about $13 per week after taxes for the average American. I'm not sure how much stimulation $13 a week buys. It depends on the neighborhood.

The biggest problem of all is the stimulus bill may not be nearly enough. And if the president has to come back asking for more, the next time might not be so easy.

So far, we have an anemic stimulus bill and some sort of vague proposal from the secretary of the Treasury to deal with the banking crisis -- a proposal that landed with a thud last week -- as the two first steps toward solving a financial crisis that is threatening to take down the country.

Obama better step up his game, or it's going to be a short four years in office.
Another CNN reporter says stimulus a sorry spectacle.
The line I find funniest: "He says the tax cuts in the bill may be too small to get the economy moving."

No one in the world thinks tax cuts can get the economy moving (although plenty of pundits get paid to say they do). Removing all taxes on everyone would *still* be too small. Tax cuts are a pointless, ineffective gesture. (And of course, he doesn't say what the little bullet point says he says!)

The line I find correctest: "The biggest problem of all is the stimulus bill may not be nearly enough."

It's too early to say they blew it, but dear god, it looks like they blew it. The one time we really require the congress to blow some massive money...and they get all stingy. Where was all this fiscal responsibility back during the Bush era?
Okay. Where is the petition to fire that CNN reporter

It shows you have a biased opinion and a weak mind.
I'm sure the Hitler Youth loved their newsletter just as much as you hate-festering libs love your Huffington Post.

And you really need to spend a second to look up the definition of "terrorist."

If a "terrorist" was anyone who commits murder, your Saint Tiller (may his stinking corpse rot in his grave) is the prime example of a TERRORIST. 60,000 infants executed. And yet all you can focus on is your hate for anything Christian.

How pathetic.
They also tried to call police on the news reporter that
was there. Stated  he wasn't allowed to be there. The reporter checked with their lawyer and he's allowed to be 10 feet away, but although he was 10 feet away, the Black Panther still tried to get rid of him. The BP also stated there was no BP there with a night stick. Yet I think the reporter saw him for himself.
Pretty weak - Johnson was a product of Texas politics,
....just like Bush, Rove, Delay, and a slew of other Suite F-8 Texans now strangling our democracy. Kennedy didn't like him, and Johnson went into fits of rage over his brother, Robert Kennedy, who he never referred to as anything but that son of a b****. Johnson was financed throughout his unstoppable career by Brown & Root (today KBR, a subsidiary of Halliburton). Politically he was a far closer match to the current Republicans both in ideology and political technique (woo them with money, destroy them if they won't cooperate with the agenda, and remember to feed that war machine at every opportunity).

Johnson was a Democrat because 60 years ago that was the Texan standard. But, he paved the way for the current breed of southern Republicans to take control. It's no surprise that Johnson leapt right into Viet Nam or collaborated with people who wished to deceive and manipulate the American people - that is what these people do. Kennedy was the true Democrat - but that just wouldn't do for either Johnson or the rest of his political soulmates who are, of course, Republicans.

Book: Bush told reporter Jews are 'all going to hell'

09/02/2006 @ 7:53 pm

Filed by Larisa Alexandrovna

An upcoming book about presidential advisor Karl Rove reports allegations of anti-semitism by President George W. Bush, RAW STORY has learned.

In The Architect: Karl Rove and the Master Plan for Absolute Power, Austin-based journalist James Moore and Wayne Slater, senior political reporter for the Dallas Morning News, will allege that Bush once made anti-semitic comments to a reporter.

You know what I'm gonna tell those Jews when I get to Israel, don't you Herman? a then Governor George W. Bush allegedly asked a reporter for the Austin American-Statesman.

When the journalist, Ken Herman, replied that he did not know, Bush reportedly delivered the punch line: I'm telling 'em they're all going to hell.

This quip never received wider media attention. RAW STORY obtained a copy of The Architect late this week.

Bush's thoughts on the fate of non-Christian souls became a minor source of controversy after he told the Houston Post in 1993 that only those who accept Jesus Christ go to Heaven. However, the future president was also earlier briefly engaged to a half-Jewish woman.

The authors of The Architect assert that religion and ethnicity have been manipulated by Bush and Rove to divide and conquer the nation.

More information about the book, to be released Tuesday, can be found here.

A Republican reporter? All I see are liberal reporters everywhere trying to shove Obama down my
Why don't you dems get your head out of the sand and start facing some facts!  Check this stuff out for yourself.  Mojo is a Democrat, and yet she's smart enough to know that not all the stuff you hear from the liberal media is true!  And I sure as heck wouldn't trust Pelosi as far as I can throw her.  Everytime we state a fact all you can come back with is Sarah Palin's daughter is pregnant, or she hunts, or McCain is stiff.  And deny what's really going on. You all are REAL good at doing that...
LOL No argument s/m

I'm neither Democrat or Republican, I usually call myself independent.  I march to my own drum.  I would have liked to have seen 2 different candidates than what we had.  I would have liked to see a true Christ-like man, humble and honest in his/her campaign...i.e. the "Straight Talk Express" which McCain claimed to have and didn't.

I simply voted AGAINST the man who bragged that he had voted "with the president over 90% of the time, more than even his Republican colleagues."  We certainly need change.  I know I haven't fared so well under Bush.  All is not lost for those who think Obama is a monster if he in fact turns out to be what he's been accused of being. .  Remember Richard Nixon?

you win the argument
If you like Bush you are a rare person indeed. His approval rating is 26%.

So now is your time to shine because your guy is still in charge and you should enjoy it.
much ado about nothing...reporter posed question as, "had he spoken to any *living* presidents?..
i agree the reporter's question was absolutely LAME..."has he spoken to any LIVING past presidents?" um...as opposed to talking to dead ones? I thought his response was quick-witted considering the idiocy of the question--at least he didn't put the reporter on the spot and embarrass her...instead he made his first gaffe as POTUSE and already apologized. let's hope the reporters ask SMARTER questions at the next conference.

Why don't you take your little argument over to the CON board.
You can con each other on the CON board.  How's that?
So is posting the same argument.
I remind you that the monitor recently posted we could cross-post, as we have had liberals on the conservative board, as long as the posts were not bashing.
Wow, that's a good argument....
it is not a personal choice. There are two people involved, one of whom has NO choice. Not fair.
