there are entirely too many people out there who take advantage of this poorly developed system. Things need to change with that in a huge way. There are some people out there who really enjoy getting something for nothing regardless of the amount. They need to come up with some sort of solution; some way of following up on people who receive different benefits, find out if they are working. If they are on disability, find out if they are following their physician's orders, do random drug screening, check with pharmacies to see if they are taking their meds, etc.... If it's a single parent who needs help, make sure they are doing something to better themselves... clean out the ones who honestly do not deserve the help so they can help someone who is single with some of these benefits with the same followup as everyone else. It is a huge mess and those are just a few examples I can think of off the top of my head... I am sorry your friend is going through this. I also have a single friend with no children and she has gone through a similar experience..
