I am just wondering how is that? Are you and your husband both American? I am just being nosy and I guess you don't have to answer me if you don't want to... just curious how that happened or how it works and if it was something you chose.

Any group that insists its beliefs are the only true beliefs,
works actively to force those beliefs on me, have reduced sex to "expression" and the more partners the better, needs to control their reproductive organs a little bit better, not my enemies either, but their way is not the only way...hellooo democracy...it's part of your name isn't it?
As to Jehovah's Witnesses, I take their booklet, thank them kindly, and throw it in the trash.
No one is forcing anything on you.
I am questioning that 75%
Where did you get that from? I think he only won the vote by a 5% margin.
The ad is questioning his judgment
not whether he was exonerated.
Questioning is one thing
going on and on and on and on and on is ridiculous. There is nothing that is going to convince some of these people that Obama is going to be the next president.
I think we are in quite enough trouble in this country without adding to the division and that is exactly what is going on. Anyone with eyeballs in their head can see the b/c is authentic.
I don't have peace with Bush, Obama can have peace with him if he wants to. He has run this country down the tubes. I don't trust him or his sleasy VP. Remembers WMD????
They aren't saying questioning
Obama because if things fail, they will still blame Bush. That is their plan. If they totally screw this country up worse than it already is, they will say that this was all unavoidable because of the stupid stuff Bush did. They will not take responsibility for anything. That is why we still have crooks like Nancy Pelosi in office and Chris Dodd, Barney Frank, etc. We have crooks like Geithner running the IRS now. Obama's own aunt is here illegally. There are different sets of rules for politicians obviously and even more so when it comes to dems and pubs. The dems ridicule Bush and turn around and so something ignorant and still blame it on Bush.
That questioning thing goes both ways, ya know.
Who is "ranting"? People are questioning. They
nm
Since when does questioning a stance on a single issue
"changing his mind?" In fact, it is media's JOB to exercise both sides of an argument (in the same way that debaters are required to argue both sides of a premise). The mere fact that a reporter is doing just that during a broadcast does not necessarily say anything whatsoever about his personal beliefs.
That's not "grilling" it's called questioning what is wrong
Do you get it? There is so much wrong going on. You think we are suppose to just sit back and watch our country be destroyed? I had to turn the freakin news off because every day it got worse and worse and instead of blowing a gasket I turned it off.
If you agree with JTBB then yes, you might think her posts are "insightful and intelligent", but I've seen many of them that were not and were just trying to start fights and keep everyone divided. It's this elitist attitude that is not very becoming.
We are not "grilling Obama for anything and everything", what people are doing is when something is wrong and should not be done they are finally standing up and saying "hold on a minute, you just can't do whatever you want and think there will be no consequences" (or maybe he does think that). Either way he (and congress) needs to be held responsible for the mistakes they are making and the sleezy behind closed door deals they are making. And last thing I knew it is in the Constitution that it is our right to do just that. You might want to read the constitution sometime.
P.S. - You sure had your hay day when Bush was in office and you thought that was okay to grill him about every single little thing. So as the saying goes "What's good for the goose is good for the gander"
best ideas
Hey, i get some of my best ideas when I am "smoked into a frenzy." Sounds like fun.
Your ideas
Any idea for change is better than what we have now. I think your idea for registration is a good one. Most people have a a birth certificate, driver's license and social security card. If, as you said, registration was done at a central place and all 3 documents had to be presented it would do away with voter registration fraud. Going back to paper ballots might not be a bad idea too.
No, because they don't have any ideas. Just want to
It is sad that grown, supposedly adults, just want to come here and slam any and all suggestions.
I guess they wish for another 8 years of the downward spiral that Bush led is into.
It is very easy to point out others' faults and issue warning Subject line zingers, but not one person who has done this has come up with a viable alternative.
We'd have to ban you, too. Or are any ideas
Get a grip and go back and learn what this country was founded on. You obviously have ZERO idea.
prehistoric ideas
What, dear neocon, was wrong in my statement? Not a thing..but, of course, you and your attack dogs have a certain way of disputing reality and truth, you say the same thing over and over and over and over and then attack the poster/author/lecturer, instead of dealing with the facts. Nothing in my post was wrong, nothing. I think you need to go back to the prehistoric age, where your ideas and beliefs are still stuck. Nothing in this country has ever gotten done due to staying the same and being afraid to move on and progress. Everything has gotten done in the country by progressives, people who realize with life and time, you must move on and change with the times and rethink things and adjust to the reality of the day and time. Hey..what..hmm..oh, I think your dinosaur is growling for you, better go get him and ride back to prehistoric times..bye..bye.., sweetie..
You were not being attacked, you ideas are
You don't debate, you scream and holler and fling insults and names.
Where are you getting these erroneous ideas?
Especially about the taxation? Obama's tax plan is going to be of bigger benefit to me and everyone I know than McCain's ever could be.
Decisions vs ideas.
nm
Even the worst of ideas
and plans that don't and won't work can be presented eloquently and there certainly will be people dumb enough to believe that those ideas and plan will actually work. This is all a bunch of fluff to get elected. Obama does give hope....it is called FALSE HOPE!
NOBAMA!!!!
Good ideas, especially #2.
The "parties" are the problems. I would also see that spending billions on crappy TV ads by the candidates wasn't done. Instead of the ridiculous debates, how about FREE TV time where ALL qualified candidates could stand before the PEOPLE and present their agenda for change in words of 1 syllable so the PEOPLE would know where they stood. No canned and doctored "questions."
I would have a weekly address to the PEOPLE and the Speaker of the House and what's the head of the Senate called, forget right now, would stand beside me and give account TO THE PEOPLE of what they had accomplished during the week.
Here's my not so genius ideas...LOL
First of all (even though I do believe in unions) the auto unions needs to work with them on this one. They can't afford to re-tool and pay high wages at the same time. At least some people who would be laid off during this time of transition could find jobs in the transition process itself. They need to simply quit producing and selling SUVs and gas guzzlers to the general public. They would have to continue to make available some things like trucks for businesses. Start making electric cars for general consumption as well as fuel efficient cars. Lower the price of cars as much as possible to undercut imports or, like you said, just stop importing them. Then we can start on the Pickens plan of using natural gas for larger vehicles.
I'm sure Obama will be calling soon for my adivse.
You do have some good ideas
Although reading I'm thinking isn't this a little drastic? :-), but I do see your point and agree with you. This is what I would do...my brainstorming and I think it is reasonable (well maybe just some of it is reasonable)
1. Cut all politicians salaries by 25%.
2. Cut sports players and hollywood people in movies/shows by 25%.
3. All the weathiest people, lets say those who have income of half a million or more tax them at a rate of say 40% (sort of like when Bill Clinton was president but instead of taxing the middle income that outrageous tax he did, we would tax the wealthiest instead).
4. All CEO/execs of companies get a 25% salary cut.
5. Any company that is found spending bail out money on lavish parties, spas, etc, a return of the money immediatly, the company dismantled and the execs thrown in jail.
On a personal level (people like you and me). Every one should have some type of garden to be able to grow food. Our founding fathers were farmers. Why? They had to eat. Take some of the dependence off the stores (only for stuff you really can't grow or make).
Get rid of Apple computer and downsize Microsoft. Do we really need IPods and IPhones. I have a portable CD player (I bought 6 years ago) with earphones and I can hear my music just fine with that. This downloading music or whatever is just a big gimmick. I also have a cell phone I bought at radioshack and I can talk to people just fine on that. What's up with "texting". If I want to text I come home and use the computer.
Get rid of a lot of autos. Half of them are not being bought. Horse and buggy worked very well in the past and could work again too. But if you don't do that, then anyone driving around with their music playing so loud it rattles the dishes inside of the house as it passes - those people should be fined big time!
Better yet instead of cutting politician salaries by 25% do away with them. Have a representive from your own state but get rid of the whole DC congress thing. Politicians should also only be allowed one term. No 2, 3, 4 or 5 year terms. If the politicians don't work for the people they need to be fired. No more career politicians.
Every person in America should know how to feed, cloth, and protect themselves without dependence on others, and any body caught breaking into someones home should be shot on the spot - no trial. They were breaking in with the intent to steal and possibly injure or kill whowever lives there so the criminal can take what is not his/hers. Take them around the back of a building and immediately put down like the animals they are. Think of all the money we'd save not having to feed and clothe them.
Get rid of some of the TV stations. Do we really need over 400 channels of TV programs? And most of the time I still can't find anything decent to watch. I grew up in the 1960s (when TV's had tubes in the back - to this day whenever something happens to our TV I will still say, maybe there is a bad tube :-) ) But I grew up on 12 channels (except we didn't get channel 8 or 11) and I always found something entertaining to watch and when there wasn't something to watch mom taught us quilting, sewing, canning, knitting or we played a good ol fashion board game of monopoly.
I think there is too much stuff in this world people do not need.
As for taxes...we should pay, but there should be a list available of who is getting what taxes, and like when I give to charity I give to what charity I want to give to and therefore I should be able to decide which organization I want my taxes to go to. And taxes should be a flat rate. That way people who make 20,000 pay the same percentage as people who make 120,000. Unlike people like John and Teresa Kerry who paid only 6% in taxes a few years back while I paid 27%.
As for all that's going on in the country. It is very sad and depressing, but in 4 years none of us are going to care if the Mayan calendar is correct.
Christian beliefs. sm
Then, I suppose my next question would be, why do posters who do not agree with how boards are handled and who do not agree with the political spirit continue to come here? And my second question would be why, with two boards, posters could not have maintained their thoughts to those boards. Objectively, I believe that is why TWO boards were set up. The people you seem to have the biggest problem with made a pact not to come here. They kept that pact. By the way, I see sickness of spirit on both sides. There were occasions on the other board when posters were were wished death and to burn in hell. Would you fight back against that? Personally, I would have left then. Both of these boards are a mess. And it solves nothing to sit here and talk about posters who will no longer be here. Move on.
I am not pushing my beliefs on you...
I am merely standing for what I believe in, just as you do. You seem defensive, and when people are defensive, that generally means they feel guilty. If you believe in a woman's right to choose to abort a child, that is your right, and you do not need me to endorse that. Just as I do not need you to endorse my feeling that life does begin at conception, I believe the soul begins at the same time. I do not believe a child growing in the womb is soul-less. We agree to disagree.
This is where our beliefs differ...sm
*...and we need to support our country's efforts in Iraq and support the men and women who are there trying to keep just this thing from happening.*
Your Rush Limbaugh cup runneth over. Sure anything can happen in America, but it is ridiculous to believe that us pulling out of Iraq is going to be our death certificate. That somehow we will just lie down and surrender the USA to Arabs.
where our beliefs differ....
I don't listen to Rush Limbaugh on a regular basis (unlike some liberals, I am fully capable of forming an opinion without the help of others), and the opinion I stated is my own. Ever heard the old saying the journey of a thousand miles begins with one step...? Well, every time we pull out of somewhere or ignore an opportunity (like Bill Clinton did out of Somalia, like Bill Clinton did in NONreponse to HOW many terrorist attacks during his presidency) we lay the groundwork for defeat. What makes you think that the same waffling liberals now won't be the same waffling liberals who run to Canada or anywhere else they can if we are attacked here? Tell me, Democrat, why should I believe you or put faith in your party who want to run yet again, to NOT to just lie down and surrender the USA to terrorists? Please tell me how I can have confidence in that? Because you SAY you will?? You need to understand these people...every weakness you show empowers them. They would see us pulling out now as a great victory. Maybe YOU want to give them that. I DO NOT.
False beliefs
On the flip side, what good will the war do us when we lose our house, our jobs, can no longer afford the food in the stores, can't buy gas to get to work (if you still have a job), you and your family now have to find a campground or shelter to live at (or worse) and the banks close and now you can't get any of your money out that you may have in there (this has already happened somewhere - would have to research again to find the exact location but its here in the US). This is exactly the scare tactics/agenda McCain is trying to push (gotta keep up the war, keep up the war, everyone is the enemy, lets keep it going for 100 years) - give me a break! They are trying to get enough people to be afraid (which is in itself a form of terrorism) that we are going to be attacked again. You know what...get our troops home and we will have more troops to protect our borders and increase security here in the US) Well first the economy is the most important issue (at least to me), unless of course you plan to pack up your stuff and go join the service and fight over there. If the economy collapses where are you going to be. How bout your parents/grandparents who cannot just pick up so easily and move to another area. McCain keeps pushing the war issue because he has no clue about the economy. He doesn't even remain consistent with his issue on gay marriage. My feeling is I don't care if George & John down the street or Mary & Sue down the road want to get married - that will not effect my day-to-day life however the economy does, my job does, eating and paying bills does affect me each day. McCain was at a meeting and he said he was for gay marriage, then 11 minutes later he said he was not for gay marriage. He's too old and out of touch with reality. Do you really want someone with his temper ready to hit the launch button in in whim? He is not a stable man (in my opinion).
Christian beliefs
The Lord's Prayer: ...Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven....
This is a Christian prayer, for those of you who are unfamiliar. There is nothing radical about what she is saying. She is a faithful Christian woman.
OP said not to force beliefs on others...
if you don't want to read religious toned posts, don't open them.

Though I think this is more beliefs than political . . .
I would never want to be kept alive like that. Would you? I have voiced this to my whole family, and they are well aware that when God tells me it is time to go, they need to let me go. I would much rather starve to death than be kept here on earth miserable in my own flesh.
Discussing ideas is antagonistic?
I, personally, have been very respectful. If discussing ideas and having a dialogue with someone is antagonistic to you then I'm afraid you're in for a very difficult road in life.

I was undecided until McCain picked Palin. C'mon people - she was the mayor of a town with 9,000 people. God forbid if something should happen to McCain - would you want her to step in. It's Obama for me - I've always liked Joe Biden - he doesn't think he's above everyone else and even commutes to and from work like us "normal" folk.
I have some ideas about auto bailout
Let the oil companies bail them out since they directly benefited from some of the bad management decisions.
Don't bail out the companies. Give the money to the workers for re-education, etc., while the auto companies restructure.
My first suggestion was a little cynical, but I'm not sure why the second hasn't occurred to anyone. ...

Religious beliefs are not the issue here...
We were discussing the law...the phrase concerning Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness is actually in the Declaration of Independence, and does not mention "citizens" at all. Regardless of your religion or lack thereof, I'm not aware of any nation in which murder or the taking of a human life is not outlawed.
As far as the ultimate decision resting with God, of course all decisions ultimately rest with God. But does that mean we should not govern ourselves or our behavior while we are here on this earth? Of course not. Laws protect the innocent - few are as innocent as an unborn child. It never ceases to amaze me that people can condone the killing of unborn babies, but are horrified if someone kills one that is 3 days old...or leaves one in a dumpster shortly after birth...or on the doorsteps of a church. I think it has been drilled into our heads for so long that this is a choice for women and our RIGHT that we actually never step back and think about the fact that we are talking about killing babies. If someone were to propose a law that men...simply because they were men...had the right to, oh, kill 3 year olds, people would laugh their heads off at the absurdity of it. Yet that is exactly what we are doing - giving women the right to kill their own children, simply because they are women and the child is in their body. Why not give the fathers the right to abort the child? After all, it is half theirs? Again, an absurd notion. But because we are women and the children grow in our bodies, we have the right to kill them? I'm sorry, I can never understand the justification for this. There are alternatives. There are choices. Choosing to kill the child should not be an option. In what other situation is it acceptable to kill another human being as a viable choice? I can think of only one - self-preservation. Self defense. So I supposed under the law, if the unborn child is killing you, you should probably be able to protect yourself. I would have to agree with that argument, but sadly, that is rarely the reason for an abortion.
Polygamy isn't just religious beliefs
There are others, such as "swingers" who engage in group sex. Who's not to say that they wouldn't start to fight for the right to marry, even if only for the massive tax break they would get?
No, it's not a human right.....contrary to your beliefs
marriage is supposed to be a gift from God for those that actually understand what that means in the first place. No where in the Bible does it talk about 2 men or 2 women having a relationship as blessed by God, but it sure tells us it is WRONG!
How do you manage to be so screwed up that you don't know the difference between homosexuality and difference in color of skin? Last time I checked, blacks go to school with whites and have for a long time, at least they do in my community.... blacks have every right whites have..... homosexuals have every right we ALL have.
I personally feel that our beliefs
of right vs wrong come from our own personal upbringing. I was raised in a very strict family. My mom attended church every Sunday and took us three kids with her. Dad smoked and swore and refused to go to church on Sunday because he didn't want to be a hypocrit because he wasn't going to give up his cigarettes, etc. My dad believed in God, but he just didn't want to be one of the people in the pews on Sunday talking about how great of a Christian he was when he knew he was going to walk outside and light up a cigarette.
My husband is an atheist. He believes in evolution and says that he doesn't need a higher power or supreme being to tell him what is right and what is wrong. However, he has no problem with his two boys going to church because he feels the morals that are taught at church are good for the boys. If they believe in God, he has no problem with that. If they decided not to, he has no problem with that. I don't push religion on my husband and he doesn't push his beliefs or lack thereof on me either and we've been happily married for 8 years now with two wonder boys and another baby on the way.
I feel that rules do change with time. We no longer stone people who commit adultry. We don't cut hands off of people who steal. We don't kick people out of our communities for being "unclean" even though there are a few I'd like to kick out. LOL! I don't see anyone sacrificing virgins or children either.
I feel that right and wrong should be based upon what is best for the majority of people and not small minority groups. We are never going to do everything that makes everyone happy, but we have to do what is best for a majority of people.
They stop trying to push YOUR beliefs on

I might be missing something here but I can't find posts by Kfir discussing her Jewish faith. It was all about the war. It was about the state of Israel not about the Jewish religion. Isn't that 2 different things?

He has shown that by not apologizing, but even saying right after 09/11 in 2001 saying that he still didn't feel they had done enough and wished they had done more. People died in those bombings. He was and is a terrorist right here in homeland. He has posed in recent years with himself standing on top of a crumpled American flag - and yet we buy Obama's excuses as to why he won't acknowledge respect of our flag? You really think those two things are not related? That Obama on national television is in essence giving a "wink and a nod" to his cohorts? It screams obvious. And now all the voter fraud with Acorn, and I guess Obama is just coincidentally involved with them too?
