Channel 2 did a bit on their nightly news. I believe it was a college paper reporter who went undercover and told the recruiters he had done drugs and other things that would have disqualified him and the recruiters were salivating at the thought of signing him up and told him ways to get into the service even though. These recruiters would take a dead man if his body was still warm, for pete sake. I say, you need people in the military, check out the people in the administration, ask if their children will join for the *better good of all to bring democracy to the world*.

Recruiters always under
a lot of pressure to meet the quotas - imagine how they feel if they were assigned to recruit rather than volunteering to do it! It's kind of strange because that's the way it was during the VN war too, during any war I guess - need as many troops as possible and they don't get too picky about it.
I wonder if all the media noise about recruitment troubles is setting us up for something else? We'd have to know about these troubles in order to accept a draft I imagine.

You do realize recruiters are part of the military you scream so loudly that you support. Recruiters have always come to high schools. I happen to think that the military is a fine career. No one is twisting anyone's arm. Military has been a part of our existence since we settled here and had the calvary. You are suggesting that high school students have no free will. That isn't logical in the least.

I just watched whatever channel it is that has
channel working on my TV tonight. (No cable). Coverage seemed pretty unbiased, each person had their say, no eye-rolling by commentators or anything along those lines. I thought it was pretty good for a first debate. Not enough nuts 'n' bolts for me on either side, but ah, well. Hopefully that'll come later.

Do you live out in the sticks? Nothing but just the local channels? Why cant you change the channel that you have or just turn the frik… television off. If I don’t like a program off it goes. So simple.

I should probably refrain from any dialogue and perhaps just correct posts that are obviously erroneous (like the one about poverty in the U.S.). Correcting factual errors on their posts would probably be a full time job. Besides I enjoy the research and learn lots!!

I like what McCain said about the tactics not
allowing media to always be right on the scene and privy to knowledge they needn't have are that our enemies can retrieve the same info they feel the American public should know and anticipate our next moves. There are some things that should be kept quiet but media in this day and age seem to feel nothing is off limits. I agree with McCain on that point. As for "promising" to find bin Laden, I have only read that McCain says he knows how to find him and will follow him to the Gates of HeII to do so. Not saying he didn't promise it elsewhere, but I only read the above.
Smear tactics?
Obama was asked this question, one of a few journalist with some integrity, as to why he allowed these women to be removed? After all, he knew it but didn't stop it. He stumbled and fumbled and fumbled and stuttered for words because he is so used to having no one ask him the hard questions, he didn't know what he should say because anything at that point would have been back peddling and he knew it.
Obama out of his own mouth, not made up stuff like you want to believe, said he had gotten himself a little 'ole Muslim liason to help smooth things over, because the last people he wants to offend are the Muslims, Heaven forbid he offends the Muslims. The heck with offending the taxpayer by insinuating they are too dumb to handle their own lives, so he'll handle it for ya by providing all your needs.

When Eisenhower liberated the Jews in the concentration camps in Germany, he made the surrounding townspeople walk through to see what they had done. Many of them worked in the camps. Do you think that only Hitler was behind killing all the Jews? I want to live in your world! But of course, not all Germans were in on the killing. However, most of them knew and that makes them complicit in my book. I won't address the bigotry remark because it's just silly. How about joining in some debate instead of getting all emotional?

not the whole channel. Keith Olbermann rants like a loon sometimes, almost to the point of drooling, but as long as he is bashing a conservative people love him. Every channel has their talking over obnoxious commentator. It is all about what Keith thinks, what his opinion is, and rarely is there a point. It could be said about any commentator. Still, if I want to see a Dem and a Repub in a split screen where the commentator says OUT of it and lets them have their say and does not allow them to talk over one another...Fox is my only choice. I have seen Fox cut the mikes on both sides if the pundit would not stop talking over the other. I have NEVER seen anyone cut Olbermann's mike. He does not even try to hide his contempt for anyone who does not share his view. You don't like Hannity, i don't like Olbermann. The difference is...if I want to hear a conservative viewpoint at ALL, Fox is my only choice. That is a fact. And why people are so against letting both sides have their say, and want to tear the hide of Fox in strips because they lean conservative when all the other outlets fall off the slide to the left...what does that say about those people? What kind of people want to silence all opposition? What is happening to this country?

The History Channel programs are
often very factual. I watch it a lot.
I would love to see the John Adams program but I gave up HBO. They didn't seem to have very good programming for a long time, movie-wise, and a lot of the series were on too late for me, so I gave HBO up (after 15 years).
I did change the channel -seeing the dislike
on all the channels except on the Communist News Network who's too busy commenting on what M.O. is wearing, and I turned MSLSD off totally along time ago when they were only showing the love affair many Americans have with him. No news found there.
You should go to the other channels and you too would see the people of other countries telling of their dislike for the annointed one.

I am the original poster and I stick with my original post and my opinion.
it was called as I saw it. it was 'questionable' to me and something I WILL consider when time to make that choice.
this country is full of children whose parents are too busy working or attending to their own needs. schools not only provide lunches for children anymore, they provide breakfast, and even dinners for some. more and more children are being pawned off as the responsibility of those other than the parents, babysitters, government, day care, on and on, and more and more are left to the horrors of predators, on-line, off-line, in their schools, in their playgrounds.
I was looking for some sign of what kind of mother this person is and I was not happy with what I saw, period.
no one was trying to put anyone back to barefoot and pregnant, or whatever you wrote. BUT if they wanted that it is their business.
frankly, I have always envied women who did not have to work and could stay home and raise their beautiful children. that was a luxury I never had nor did my children.
that is my opinion.

We have a trust issue and it is up to him to work his way out of that. Being sniped at by his supporters does not help us in that journey. :-)

Fox News Channel, on the other hand, is broadcasting LIVE on Christmas Day and continuing to spread their Bush is wonderful and broke no laws gospel.

If you want to base your decisions on lies, then you all deserve whatever comes from McPalin, but the thing is that our country will be stuck in the mire for another four years. So big deal, McCain was shot out of the sky...so were hundreds of others, others have given their lives for this country but McCain votes against any bill that will cost anything to help them....some leader he will make. Just got to thinking about this after ExMQMT made the statements she did below about being scared. Now, I know there was an element of sarcasm in her post, and I can appreciate the dark humor of it.
However, I think people really should look at the big picture here and understand that, with all of the findings (and yes, they are documented) of Obama's associations and religious upbringing, he could very possibly be a threat to our nation in a lot of ways. When the Russians were "loaded for moose" back in the 1950s, people were warned about the danger, but a lot of them chose to call it scare tactics. Granted, Russia never blew us off the map, but knowing that they could and that they were a threat to our country made our citizens more aware that there was more to life than what was going on in their own secure back yard. Saying that Obama is a threat to us because of his associations and religious beliefs (Muslim or Wright-brand religion) is not a scare tactic to coerce people into voting for him. It is a stern warning that this man is a wolf in sheep's clothing and that we need to be aware of the implications of electing someone who is such a person.

Who's paranoid now?? My point is that this is a board that at best is duplicitous. I did not know it was privately owned and run by an extremely conservative individual. I know I left the religion board a long time ago because it was run by someone who appeared to be of the religous right who deleted posts left and right and was very ugly about it in the process. On an open forum, people can be of any faith or none at all. I seem to remember the Pagan/Wiccan posts going first. Anyway, at the time I thought it was odd that MTStars would allow one of its volunteers (see below) to dismiss anyone who was not of his or her persuasion on a public forum. I do not think that a private person with a private agenda should be given a platform to expound on that platform on an open discussion board. Yes, a death threat to the President of the United States, ANY President of ANY party, is supposed to be reported to the FBI or Secret Service, regardless of where it originates. That is what the poster meant. As to this board....what is your problem? If you don't want to post here, don't. If you don't like the way it is handled, don't stay. So far as I can tell, the only posts that have been removed have been ones that bash this country or bash the President. I trust it would be the same no matter what party the President belonged to. It is called respect of tradition, respect of the office, respect of the origins of this country...which you obviously don't give a whit about. Thank God there are people who still do. Thank God!
