Iraq...constantly talking about Iraq and what was going on there and never having been there, though many other senators had. Anyone paying attention knows that. Obama's little trip to Germany was part and parcel of his "I am a citizen of the world" hoohah. Had nothing to do with what McCain said. And yes, he finally DID go to Iraq, and well he SHOULD. And he knows that the surge worked, but he would die before he admitted it. That is what I HATE about politics. Politicians (none of them) ever say what they think or they feel...only what they think you want to hear. I hate the pandering and dishonesty, on both sides. It reeks.

I just got the courage to take a peek at my 401K. It's lost fully 1/4 of its value, and still dropping. Just as bad as 9/11. And I still hadn't earned back everything I lost after 9/11, either. So now the 401K is even deeper in the hole. If I retired today, I could probably live for a year and a half on what's in there. Who do they think they're kidding with this "bailout"? And where the *#D&! do they think we taxpayers are supposed to get the money to help pay for THEIR mess?
At this point in my life, a cash-under-the-table sideline and tax-evasion seem like the only way to survive.

So McCain's swipe at Obama's tax plan was something other than straight talk. As a share of the economy, Obama's plan would create an overall tax burden similar to the one that existed in Ronald Reagan's time. It would not choke off job creation; rather, it would slow the growth of the deficit and soften inequality. But the really depressing thing is that McCain himself once knew that. He opposed the Bush tax cuts before he supported them, saying that they would deepen inequality. But now he touts a tax reduction that is larger and more radical than even President Bush proposed, and he slams his opponent for holding the view that he himself held until recently.

first two months in office. What a joke. If you haven't "learnt" by seeing what has been done in a short period of two months, you need to take your blinders off. I don't believe Bush was right in what he did, but I don't believe Obama is the answer to our problems now either. During the debate he stated the reason he did not vote for the bill presented in Illinois regarding babies that live through abortion is because there is a bill that already addresses this? Or did I miss something?

One was in Oregon and the latest one was in Kentucky, at UofK. And so the school is going to apologize to Obama, and they called in the FBI. So did anybody think to apologize to Sarah Palin and her family? or to McCain and his family? Why is it a hate crime of the effigy is black and not a hate crime because the other effigy was a white female? They passed it off as "freedom of speech." So wouldn't hanging a black person in effigy be an exercise in "freedom of speech?" One would think so, but then again, this is another example of people bending over backwards to kiss Obama's feet and the MSM thinks this is OK? Be scared, be very scared if Obama is elected.
I heard Obama talking
about that bill. I cannot remember what he said was on it that he did not like, but I remember he said that those babies are protected without it. That it is already a law that they have to get medical attention if they survived the abortion.
He knew that was the case when he voted, so that was not the issue, and it would not subject them to being left to die.

it was written by a black pastor and it is his opinion. He was not hired by nor affiliated with the McCain campaign. There are several black preachers who do not agree with black liberation theology. There was nothing in his post about hatred. He said homosexuality was a sin..it is. He didn't say he hated gays...just that the Bible says the ACT is a sin..and it is. Just like lying, adultery, murder, etc. It does have the distinction of being the one sin that God classified as an "abomination." All the preacher was pointing out was that when Obama said there was nothing specific in the Bible regarding homosexuality...he was wrong. Again...there is no hatred in that post. He just doesn't agree with Obama's philosophy. Where you get hate from that I don't know....did you even read the post?

Re-read my post....I was NOT talking about Obama himself...
I am talking about his followers. And yes, it is more like followers than supporters, and a great many of them, including on this board, turn into a snarling, snapping, pack attack on anyone who posts anything negative or unflattering about him. I cannot believe you can say that no one can make you hate. We all have the capacity within us to hate. But no one hates spontaneously and it most certainly can be taught. do you think Islamic terrorists were born hating? Of course not. But they are taught it, and they learn it. Just the way a lot of kids were taught racism. THey werren't born hating, it was taught to them until they thought that was the way it was supposed to be. They didn't even know it was hate. Louis Farrakhan preaches hate. The I disagree totally that hate comes from within and that no one can make you hate. Oh yes they can.
All that being said...I did not say that by design Obama makes his followers that way...I said I didn't know. But the fact remains, those are the traits they exhibit.

coming from this administration. Do I think Bush is a good president, yes! Do I think he's great? No, because, personally, he's not been conservative enough for me. To me, Ronald Reagan was great. He was tough, but he still made people like him. Bush not been tough enough on some issues.....however, that's never here or there. I have always freely said that I don't agree with everything coming from the Republican party. I'm a conservative first, Republican second, but as the days go on I am becoming more and more a Libertarian. I will still vote Republican, because I think that's where my vote has the most value, but if the Libertarian movement becomes more of a contender, believe me, I'm going to catch that wave.
I said all that to say this.....I never generalized when it came to Democrats when it came to Clinton in office, because, being from the South where there are still a lot of old Southern Democrats (and, gasp, I was one for several years believe it or not...) I knew all Democrats did not stand behind some of the Clinton policies. There were some Clinton policies I did like, although as a presidential role model he drug the office of president through the mud.....

You can promote those programs, but in this culture, sex-saturated media, desensitization to the point of sex is just an expression and you don't even have to like each other, multiple partners, the whole 9 yards. No program is going to work at this point. Birth control information is out there. How, in this culture, could you even say abstinence with a straight face? Doesn't mean I don't think it should be mentioned, because if it causes 1 or 2 kids not to engage in premarital sex, much better. Most social programs are failed policies...and a huge waste and drain on the government. That is one thing I like about both candidates...they say they will get rid of the social programs that don't work. Trouble is...they never identify which programs. lol.

If there already exist specific written policies
pertaining to personal workspace adornment (size, number and/or appropriateness of photographs, posters, banners, political content, sports memorabilia, etc.) then I would agree with you. If you don't like the policy, don't work there. Your office is not your personal gallery.
If the company doesn't want somebody hanging up a Soviet flag, then they're probably going to have to prohibit Old Glory as well.
However, if this is a policy formulated on the spur of the moment to appease a complainer, then I disagree. What's next? An Ohio State fan complaining about a Michigan pennant in the next cubicle?) Nor do I agree that new policies should be formulated after the fact to deal with an existing situation just because nobody foresaw it. If it's an important issue, then a rule should already cover it.
If this is a public area (waiting room/reception area) then I am sure the company must have had the foresight to write a standard regarding decor, since all visitors will see this. In my opinion, if it ain't covered in that policy, it should be okay.
Interesting that people voluntarily come to this country, going to considerable effort to get here, then so easily become offended and need special accommodations. What is it they don't understand about "liberty"? If an American coworker complained about the Ugandan flag in a neighboring workspace, there would be h*ll to pay! Disciplinary action against the complainer. Law suits! ACLU involvement! Paid leave and free counseling for the Ugandan employee to get over the trauma of the event!

I think this whole politics thing is amusing. I believe people are fed up with the politics of the White House and where this administration has brought us in 8 years, Iraq, threatening Iran, many enemies in other nations who used to be friends, etc. Obama is accused of not knowing much and McCain of being too old to run. I think maybe both are true. I am waiting for a debate between these two men to see if I will even bother to vote, because in MHO all politicians will lie to get where they want in office. All I do know is that this country is going in the wrong direction and needs to change quickly. That is why I believe a woman should be in the White House. No Hillary did not win, but there needs to be a strong woman in there to run the country and straighten this horrible mess out, which includes global warming, health care, aide for elderly and food for the poor and help for the poor. We need to concentrate on our country more to help the poor/sick/elderly, and stop the oil companies from making such huge profits while we decide on food or gas for the week.

Not in any way to make light of John McCain's service to this country. If being a Viet Nam POW qualilfies anyone to be president, maybe my husband should consider running. No? Why not? Take away McCain's military service...no more or less than thousands of other men who are not running for office and thus usually don't even like to talk about their war experience.... and there is not a whole lot of difference in the two men. That is how I have been going over the last couple months. I just don't know any more and frankly I'm getting tired of it. I voted for Obama over Hillary, then was a strong supporter of Obama. Heard some stuff I didn't like so I switched to McCain, then heard some stuff and switched back to Obama, now with the economic crisis and what the democrats have done, I am looking towards McCain again. Let me explain why (please take pitty on me and don't flame me too bad :-), but with that said let me tell you why.
I feel that Obama can speak better than McCain. Gotta give him credit for being an eloquent speaker, however that doesn't mean that his ideas are right for America. I'm learning about his voting record and the programs he will be pushing for, and if I wanted to live in the type of economy Obama wants if he is elected I mind as well move to Cuba or another country that is socialized. Yes he understands our economy but he's making all the wrong decisions and we are going to be further in debt. I just found out today that 700B dollars is not a figure they need. They made that up out of thin air. They need close to a trillion dollars, but they were afraid if they ask for a trillion it will raise suspicion so they picked 700B out of thin air. And that money will be pocketed by them and then they'll need more. Kucinich said today where do you think we're going to get 700B from? We'll get it from banks. And we'll give it to banks. And then more faux money and debt and loans will go out and we will not be any better. And this is what Obama is going to approve. Obama does not care about people like you and me. He is for the 1% of the rich (him and his friends). I don't think he is qualified to make any decisions about our economy. And Pelosi and Franks should be fired on the spot! We should remember as a democratic congresswoman pointed out that we have enemies both foreign AND domestic. That means here in our country, and as far as I can see they are the democratics that are destroying our economy. NOT ALL DEMOCRATS. I wanted to make sure I made that clear. There are plenty good democrats who know this bill is wrong and are voting agaist it - good for them, but there are the other ones (along with some republicans) who are out for themself. We need a strong leader to lead us in the direction of bringing our economy back up and I believe that person is John McCain.
Second, I don't feel safe with what Obama is proposing to sit down with our enemies and have a nice big group hug and everything will be all better. That's not the way it works and McCain understands that. I feel safer with McCain in there on foreign policies and the ability to keep our country safer.
Biden - Don't know much about him except he's been in the senate a long time, which is good because Obama is fairly new so he would be big help. Personally I like Biden, so have no quams with him. I think he can put his foot in his mouth enough if you get him talking long enough. It also doesn't help that he was even saying Obama is not qualified to be president, but time will tell.
Palin. She's better than a lot of people are giving her credit for. I know your probably saying pleeese, but put your hatred towards her aside. She has a lot to learn, but so does Obama. He's had an 18-month lead on her, and with help she is learning fast. I heard the leader of Pakistan tonight and he said after meeting with her she was intelligent and he thinks if McCain and Palin are elected she will do just fine.
I like her resume and knowlege of the economy and plans for getting us back on the right track better than Obama's. BTW - I did watch one of her interviews and she did quite well. She was very intelligent and articulate in what she was saying (completed full sentances throughout the whole interview, finished her thought processes, etc), but then again she was being interviewed by someone who treated her with respect and didn't try to pull any of the "gotcha's", or look down at her cross-eyed like Couric did. Couric has the interview skills of a beanpole, so don't know why anyone even watched it.
I am looking forward to the debate on Thursday. I know a lot of you have already got it in your minds that she has already lost the debate and that is unfortunate. I am anxious to hear Biden talk. I do like him and had wished he had won the nomination over Obama.
My feeling on Palin is that given a chance and good mentors she will do just fine as VP and I always remember our founding fathers didn't have half the experience she does and they made this country great in the beginning. Now politics is just filled with lawyers, crooks and liars.
So...if Obama and Biden win I won't be crying, and if McCain and Palin win I will be fine too.

WASHINGTON - While the White House defended domestic surveillance as a safeguard against terrorism, a Florida peace activist and several Democrats in Congress accused the Bush administration on Friday of spying on Americans who disagree with President Bush's policies.
Richard Hersh, of Boca Raton, Fla., director of Truth Project Inc. of Palm Beach County, told an ad hoc panel of House Democrats that his group and others in South Florida have been infiltrated and spied upon despite having no connections to terrorists.
Agents rummaged through the trash, snooped into e-mails, packed Web sites and listened in on phone conversations, Hersh charged. We know that address books and activist meeting lists have disappeared.
The Truth Project gained national attention when NBC News reported last month that it was described as a credible threat in a database of suspicious activity compiled by the Pentagon's Talon program. The listing cited the group's gathering a year ago at a Quaker meeting house in Lake Worth, Fla., to talk about ways to counter military recruitment at high schools.
Talon is separate from the controversial domestic-surveillance program conducted by the National Security Agency. Bush has acknowledged signing orders that allow the NSA to eavesdrop without the usual court warrants, prompting an outcry from many in Congress.
Bush plans to tour the NSA on Wednesday as part of a campaign to defend his handling of the program.
This is a critical tool that helps us save lives and prevent attacks, White House spokesman Scott McClellan said on Friday. It is limited and targeted to al-Qaida communications, with the focus being on detection and prevention.
The Defense Department's Talon program collects data from a wide variety of sources, including military personnel and private citizens, Pentagon spokesman Greg Hicks said.
They are unfiltered dots of information about perceived threats, Hicks said. An analyst will look at that information. And what we are trying to do is connect the dots before the next major attack.
To Hersh and some members of Congress, the warrant-less surveillance and Talon are all a part of domestic-spying operations that threaten civil liberties of average Americans and put dissenters under a cloud of suspicion.
Neither you nor anybody in that (Quaker) church had anything to do with terrorism, said Rep. Robert Wexler, D-Fla. The fact is, the Truth Project may have a philosophy that is adverse to the political philosophy and goals of the president of the United States. And as a result of that different philosophy, the president and the secretary of defense ordered that your group be spied upon.

Go Obama - go home McCain
My best friend that I was in the Army with 20 years ago just told me that her son went to Kuwait last year, her daughter graduated from high school last year and went straight into the Army and is now in the middle east, and her husband who is a police officer and was in active duty (they met in the army) and the reserves just got called to go over all within the last year. I say Go Obama! We need our troops home in a reasonable time frame. MCain is a war mongerer and will keep this going for the next 100 years (as is his words), and I've heard Hillary is just like McCain and they are on the same team together (what that means I don't know but that's what an article said). I know they are friends and work closely together. So I say please, please, please let Obama win!
Who is scarier (McCain or Obama) and why?
I would like to know who you think is a scarier candidate and why. Please give facts (not rumors you have read or heard like for example - do not tell me that you believe Obama is a muslim, or that you don't like his middle name or think he's the antichrist, or McCain is not a christian or this or that). I am looking for some facts. Like he supports this or that and his experience he has done this or that. Just curious who thinks who is a scarier choice for president. Both of them right now are not high on my list and whoever is chosen for president will be just that (chosen by the higher powers than us).
McCain has been saying the same thing Obama has been saying...
politics as usual in Washington needs to stop...Obama chose a 30-year plus washington insider and McCain could not havechosen someone much further from washington politics. He has bucked his party when he felt they were not representing their members as they should and so has she. She cleaned up a good ol'boy nest of corruption in Alaska, where, I might add, she enjoys an 80% favorability rating, and that is unheard of. I don't think 80% of Alaskans are Republican. That means to me she is a great governor and certainly knows what she is doing.
She is young..like Obama. She represents change from Washington poltiics...like Obama. She comes from meager beginnings...like Obama. She served in City council (Obama served as community organizer). She served as mayor. She has served as governor. She has a beautiful family. So does OBama.
What means the most to me is one part of her speech no one really made a big deal about, but it spoke volumes to me. She said you should serve with a servant's heart. She has demonstrated she will buck her party to clean it up, and if it comes to party or her constituents, her constituents trump the party. That means a LOT to me. That means she cares about the little people and it is not just words, it is actions. McCain has done the same. I have admired her greatly for a long time, and i think she is exactly what America needs in washington.
Obama is the chicken, not McCain
McCain isn't the one who's afraid, Obama is, so he's spouting off, trying to make McCain look like an unworthy opponent. Everybody knows that Obama knows he can't debate, so this is just a ploy of his. I guarantee you that if McCain was still planning to be present for the debate, Obama would be keeping his mouth shut, and studying up on "How to Debate and Look Like You Know What you're talking About".
Anybody that can't show respect to our American Flag has no place in this country, let alone be its leader.
