Elderly parents
I think what we are going to see more of in the future is multiple generations living under one roof. It's going to be the only way anyone will be able to afford to live. They've done this in other countries for years because of the high cost of living. The elderly will not be able to afford to live on their own. Our children will not be able to afford to live on their own because they won't be able to find jobs.

I saw a commercial for a shady law firm wanting to help people fight for their rights if they were denied what they "deserve" from SS. One of the reasons listed was "depression". That's right. Some people get a SS check just to be depressed, or be alcoholic, or drug addicted.
I personally know 3 people who should not be, but are, drawing SS; all of them under 40. Two of them have never worked a day in their life, two of them have supposed mental problems, one of them has a supposed health problem that prevents working but allows her to shop at the mall.  These 3 plan on drawing SS for the rest of their lives, and never working.
These are the freebies that anger me. People that have never paid in, can act special in front of doctors, and never get their case reviewed, just draw SS their whole lives. I've worked since I was 14 (PT until 18, then FT from then on). I'm 49. There won't be ANY SS left for me - because it all got given away to slackers who manipulate the system. And believe me, if it was up to me NOBODY would get a raise because it just makes the amount I will get at full retirement age of 67 (if they don't push it back to 75 by then!!!!) smaller and smaller....as it stands today when I do draw SS I'll only get 78 cents on the dollar for everything I PAID in my whole life. Sorry, none left for ME, we had to give MINE away to people whose whole lives have been a drain on society amd never paid a cent!
Plenty of people draw SS their whole life from the day they were born - like a few of octomom's brood! But its OK, let her keep popping out the preemies, I'll give away a few more cents on MY retirement dollars so that she can! This issue is not just about the elderly, so wake up and smell our future SS being squandered today!

on TV where some guy went to the Artic, and it was so cold he had to bundle up! She's nuts anyway, but this was one of her best kooky moments.

Why are we letting them get away with this?
My DH and I were watching TV last night and from their estimates, cap and trade will literally double our electric bill. This is an outrage. That doesn't include how high gas itself will go up. This will literally cause the price of just about everything to go up. It feels like are government is doing everything they can to make it harder on us while they preach about giving us what we need to survive. Well.....I'm sorry......I would rather support myself without needing government to provide the essentials for me. This is total take over. They are literally going to bankrupt the American people to pay for this healthcare plan. More people will lose jobs, prices will skyrocket, people will lose their homes, not afford gas to get to work, etc. But hey...no worries...once you have lost everything you have after the government has made everything so expensive and taxed you to death......they will give you healthcare, food stamps, etc. They literally want to squash the American dream, crush the middle class and make them low class, and make us all dependent on our government.
Why in the he!! can't our government first focus on getting us out of this mess. If Obama is still in office after our economy recovers, then he can talk about healthcare for everyone. It just isn't feasible right now without hurting the American people. We cannot afford it!!!! I'm so sick and tired of Obama and his administration doing nothing put pushing through their personal agenda with no regard as to how many people his agenda will hurt. I am so furious with our government right now I could scream and I just cannot see why some of you still believe in Obama. How blind can you friggin be???
My DH and I have always lived well within our means. We are very responsible with our money and have excellent credit but if the government keeps doing what it is doing......even people like us will take the fall while our politicians and president....who preach about sacrifice.....will still be sitting around with a silver spoon in their mouth taking taxpayer money for whatever they wish and living a nice comfy life. They make me sick! Why aren't they giving up anything? I don't see them sacrificing crap. It is the American people who are sacrificing.....not them.

Obama and the media cloud things. I saw that interview and I do not think Couric was looking down her nose at her. I think it doesn't matter what anyone asks, if you are for McCain and Palin then you are going to see things going that way. I have seen some interviews with Biden and he has not come off looking great. I don't think Palin did a pathetic job either, I just think that whenever she gets asked a tough question, regardless of how she answers it the interviewer is going to painted in this all for Obama light. I think it is a no-win situation all around. Yes, the press needs to get tought with all of candidates. End of story. Will it happen, most likely not but it is what it is.
And, before you go accusing me for being all about Obama, I am not. I am a Republican who has no plans to cross party lines to vote, but believe that Palin better get out there and start answering questions, taking questions, doing press conferences, anything for God's sake but stand back. So yes, she needs to be asked whatever stupid question the interviewer gives her because for one, I want to hear what she has to say and two, I want to see how she handles herself. Maybe Biden is not getting asked the same questions becuase we alreay know where he stands. I have seen a number of interviews, sit-downs, etc, with him already.

We are not confused about who we want to be having sex with. We know exactly who we want to be having sex with. "Sex is meant to be between a woman and a man"????? Who said so, your pastor or some other so called religious whack. You don't know who the majority are. The majority of people believes sex is meant to be between two people who love each other, and there are a lot of straight couples who believe there is nothing wrong with gay couples and we certainly are not confused. The fact is you don't know that more people think like you do (and I sure hope not). Here's a little news piece too.... there are still a lot of people who think the President should only be a white man but guess what. We actually have people who voted for a black man (1/2 black). I guess this makes them not "normal" in your eyes.

There is nothing pathetic about
the human instinct of survival. They've been sold up the river 9 ways to Sunday over the past 6 decades in those so-called peace initiatives, lied to continuously by Israel and western peace brokers, occupied, controlled, invaded, their country shrunken and cut to shreds, starved, held hostage, demonized and dehumanized by their hostile, blood-thirsty captors. THAT is pathetic. Expecting an occupied population that has been subjected to this kind of cruelty to fall in line and behave intelligently, rationally or logically is also pathetic, and pretty STUPID, if you ask me.
You know how the saying goes. Desperate times call for desperate measures. If you torture an entire population of people over this extended period of time, don't you think it is a bit, shall we say, PATHOLOGIC to expect anything less than violence, contempt, determination and resolve to destroy the perpetrators in return?

This is actually an old e-mail. It first came out not long after the election. So, here's my question. Does this refer to the millions of jobs lost during the previous administration or just those within the last 60+ days? Less than that if you count when the e-mail actually came out.
If you're going to go back and point fingers, at least point them in the right direction -- that would be towards the guy who not only lost jobs (and did nothing about it) but lives as well in a war that was completely unnecessary that did absolutely nothing but cost lives and run up the deficit. (Interesting that Bush didn't bother to put the cost of the wars on the balance sheet, by the way.)

This is only the second time that I have posted, and it is only out of dismay that I do so now. I am absolutely dumbfounded, shocked, amazed, and disgusted by the utter and complete

It is people like you who are truly the scary ones!! It is truly sad that at a time of crisis like this that we cannot come together. I just saw coverage of some of the Mad Hatter's tea parties, and the turnout is pathetic. I also don't see any government agents harassing the crowds, as some paranoid posters here claimed they would. Much ado about nothing!
