I was always grateful to be white. I didn't want to deal with the "issues" people of different ethnic backgrounds were subjected to. I was starting to believe with the current climate and the majority vote of an African-American into the White House, we were beyond such ignorance. I guess in some quarters, that still proves to be untrue. I've never been called whitey, cracker, etc., etc. Guess it depends on your neighborhood. But.......I live in a city that has a high ratio of black/white residents.....hmmmm.
