Love, love, love John Stewart. . .
the bit about the open microphone on McCain during the debate was brilliant!!! I laughed until I literally cried!! By the way, Michelle Obama was warm, intelligent, sincere and very much First Lady material!!!
I think it all shows that Christianity is valued with the love of the dollar, not the love of Christ
x
I love democrats! I love most of the past democratic presidents (sm)
I would love for there to be a good democrat I could vote for. I want good leadership and I want change. But I truly believe to purposely ignore a symbol speaks volumes. He is not just asking the symbol to wait, he is ignoring it on purpose. Avoiding it on purpose. Why do you think that is? There is a reason. Can you not see it?
I agree neither choice is great, but will vote McCain just as a vote against Obama. nm
x
A vote for Ron Paul is a wasted vote. No chance on Earth he can win. sm
Votes for him only take away from the real candidates.
Good point. I don't vote party, I vote for the
person. Every Democrat is not bad and every Republican good or vice versa.
I love the class of liberals....just love it...
ignore the truth and attack personally. Shows a lot of tolerance.
"it tells me to love them as I would love myself"...(sm)
This must be why you so obviously love Muslims?
You do realize that you contradict yourself on just about every other post you make? ROFL..
Then you need to vote for Obama. A vote for McCain will...sm
not help you. Obama wants to give tax relief to 90% of Americans who earn 1% of the gross earnings in this country. The top 1% of earners bring in 90% of earnings. Any one person who earns $250,000 or less will benefit from Obama's tax plan.
they didn't vote - they registered to vote -
that is a big difference. The votes were not counted, they were stopped by the means in which they were supposed to be stopped - ID verification, address verification, etc. The cards were filled out by the ACORN workers and then given to the proper authorities to sort through.
The phony registrations were pulled out by the actual authorities. ACORN is just a middle man.
We get what we vote for. If we vote "party", we get extremes.
If we make it a point to try to identify candidates who hold moderate views and vote for them, rather than voting a "party ticket", we'll have a better chance of getting away from these extremes, whether right or left.
One of the problems, though, is that candidates often play games with their real positions. During the primaries, they talk the "party" line and then they move to the center for the general election. Both sides do this, unfortunately.
The only hope is to look at their past records - and take them seriously. History is prologue to the future. When a man has done certain things in his adult life, it tells us more about him than anything he says. If Obama hasn't taught us this fundamental truth, we'll never learn it. The evidence about him goes all the way back to his days in law school, and it was available for anyone to see. Some didn't bother to look. Others looked and didn't take it seriously. Either way, we weren't paying attention or he'd have probably never made it through the primaries.
No one can pull the wool over your eyes unless you let them, and the way they do it is by making smooth speeches filled with unlikely promises (and even glaring contradictions as they appeal to groups with opposite interests). They believe we won't notice the lies, exaggerations and mischaracterizations of their opponent's positions, etc. Unfortunately, they are often right.
Let's start taking the candidates' prior records and their life histories as the best evidence of who they really are - not their speeches. If we do this, we'll make better choices.
LOL. I love it.
You took my thoughts and put them on paper. I was thinking the same thing. We didn't start this, but if you're going to taunt us with somebody don't give us good bait like Limberger.
ROTFL.
Have much love, too.
Not hate at all. No stay mad, ever.
I just love it!!

Bush's Popularity Reaches New Low 58 Percent in Poll Question His Integrity
By Richard Morin and Dan Balz Washington Post Staff Writers Friday, November 4, 2005; A01
For the first time in his presidency a majority of Americans question the integrity of President Bush, and growing doubts about his leadership have left him with record negative ratings on the economy, Iraq and even the war on terrorism, a new Washington Post-ABC News poll shows.
On almost every key measure of presidential character and performance, the survey found that Bush has never been less popular with the American people. Currently 39 percent approve of the job he is doing as president, while 60 percent disapprove of his performance in office -- the highest level of disapproval ever recorded for Bush in Post-ABC polls.
Virtually the only possible bright spot for Bush in the survey was generally favorable, if not quite enthusiastic, early reaction to his latest Supreme Court nominee, Samuel A. Alito Jr. Half of Americans say Alito should be confirmed by the Senate, and less than a third view him as too conservative, the poll found.
Overall, the survey underscores how several pillars of Bush's presidency have begun to crumble under the combined weight of events and White House mistakes. Bush's approval ratings have been in decline for months, but on issues of personal trust, honesty and values, Bush has suffered some of his most notable declines. Moreover, Bush has always retained majority support on his handling of the U.S. campaign against terrorism -- until now, when 51 percent have registered disapproval.
The CIA leak case has apparently contributed to a withering decline in how Americans view Bush personally. The survey found that 40 percent now view him as honest and trustworthy -- a 13 percentage point drop in the past 18 months. Nearly 6 in 10 -- 58 percent -- said they have doubts about Bush's honesty, the first time in his presidency that more than half the country has questioned his personal integrity.
The indictment Friday of I. Lewis Scooter Libby, Vice President Cheney's former chief of staff, in the CIA leak case added to the burden of an administration already reeling from a failed Supreme Court nomination, public dissatisfaction with the economy and continued bloodshed in Iraq. According to the survey, 52 percent say the charges against Libby signal the presence of deeper ethical wrongdoing in the administration. Half believe White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove, the president's top political hand, also did something wrong in the case -- about 6 in 10 say Rove should resign.
Beyond the leak case, Americans give the administration low scores on ethics, according to the survey, with 67 percent rating the administration negatively on handling ethical matters, while just 32 percent give the administration positive marks. Four in 10 -- 43 percent -- say the level of ethics and honesty in the federal government has fallen during Bush's presidency, while 17 percent say it has risen.
Faced with its cascade of recent setbacks, the White House is hoping the latest court nomination can rally disaffected conservatives and score the president a victory akin to the one he enjoyed in the nomination of Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. Alito begins the confirmation process with the support of 49 percent of the public, while 29 percent say he should not be confirmed, the poll found. One in 5 Americans -- 22 percent -- did not yet know enough about him to make a judgment.
The dissatisfaction with Bush flows in part out of broad concerns about the overall direction of the country. Nearly 7 in 10 -- 68 percent -- believe the country is seriously off course, while only 30 percent are optimistic, the lowest level in more than nine years. Only 3 in 10 express high levels of confidence in Bush, while half say they have little or no confidence in this administration.
Just 35 percent of those surveyed rated the economy as either excellent or good, with 65 percent describing it as not so good or poor. Although the government reported last week that gross domestic product rose 3.8 percent in the last quarter, despite the effects of Hurricane Katrina, 29 percent of those surveyed said they regard the economy as poor, the highest recorded during Bush's presidency.
Attitudes toward Bush are sharply polarized by party, as they have been throughout his presidency. Almost 8 in 10 -- 78 percent -- of Republicans support the president, while just 11 percent of Democrats rate him positively. Republicans long have been the key to Bush's overall strength, but Bush has suffered some defections since the beginning of the year, when 91 percent approved of the way he was handling his job.
Among independents, Bush's approval has plummeted since the beginning of the year. In the latest poll, 33 percent of independents approved of his performance, while 66 percent disapproved. In January, independents were evenly divided, with 49 percent approving and an equal percentage disapproving.
The intensity of Bush's support has changed since his reelection a year ago, with opponents deepening their hostility toward the administration. In the latest survey, 47 percent said they strongly disapprove of the way he was performing in office, compared with 35 percent who expressed strong disapproval in January. At the same time, the percentage who say they strongly approve of his performance has fallen from 33 percent last January to 20 percent today.
Iraq remains a significant drag on Bush's presidency, with dissatisfaction over the situation there continuing to grow and with suspicion rising over whether administration officials misled the country in the run-up to the invasion more than two years ago.
Nearly two-thirds disapprove of the way Bush is handling the situation there, while barely a third approve, a new low. Six in 10 now believe the United States was wrong to invade Iraq, a seven-point increase in just over two months, with almost half the country saying they strongly believe it was wrong.
About 3 in 4 -- 73 percent -- say there have been an unacceptable level of casualties in Iraq. More than half -- 52 percent -- say the war with Iraq has not contributed to the long-term security of the United States.
The same percentage -- 52 percent -- says the United States should keep its military forces in Iraq until civil order is restored, and only about 1 in 5 -- 18 percent -- say the United States should withdraw its forces immediately. In the week after U.S. deaths in Iraq passed the 2,000 mark, a majority of those surveyed -- 55 percent -- said the United States is not making significant progress toward stabilizing the country.
The war has taken a toll on the administration's credibility: A clear majority -- 55 percent -- now says the administration deliberately misled the country in making its case for war with Iraq -- a conflict that an even larger majority say is not worth the cost.
The president's handling of terrorism was widely regarded among strategists as the key to his winning a second term last year. But questions about Bush's effectiveness on other fronts have also depreciated this asset. His 48 percent approval now compares with 61 percent approval on this issue at the time of his second inauguration, down from a 2004 high of 66 percent.
Bush also set new lows in the latest Post-ABC News poll for his management of the economy, where disapproval topped 60 percent for the first time in his presidency. And 6 in 10 are critical of the way Bush is dealing with health care -- a double-digit increase since March. On gasoline prices, Bush's numbers have increased slightly over the past two months but still remain highly negative, with just 26 percent rating him positively.
The survey suggests a rapidly widening gulf between Bush and the American people. Two in 3 say Bush does not understand the problems of people like them, a 10 percentage point increase since January.
Nearly 6 in 10 -- 58 percent -- doubt Bush shares their values, while 40 percent say he does, another new low for this president. For the first time since he took office, fewer than half -- 47 percent -- said Bush is a strong leader, and Americans divided equally over whether Bush can be trusted in a crisis.
Told of the poll results, Republican National Committee Chairman Ken Mehlman said Bush will rally support through such issues as education reform, changes to the tax code, and a new energy strategy to show the public that he will continue to push for changes in our government to serve the American people.
A total of 1,202 randomly selected adults were interviewed Oct. 30-Nov. 2 for this survey. Margin of sampling error for the overall results is plus or minus three percentage points
This is why I always say I love YOU. sm
This is why I always say I love YOU....
This has not been broken since 9/11/01, please keep it going... This has been kept alive and moving since 9/11. In memory of all those who perished this morning; the passengers and the pilots on the United Air and AA flights, the workers in the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, and all the innocent bystanders. Our prayers go out to the friends and families of the deceased.
IF I KNEW
If I knew it would be the last time That I'd see you fall asleep, I would tuck you in more tightly and pray the Lord, your soul to keep.
If I knew it would be the last time that I see you walk out the door, I would give you a hug and kiss and call you back for one more.
If I knew it would be the last time I'd hear your voice lifted up in praise, I would video tape each action and word, so I could play them back day after day.
If I knew it would be the last time, I could spare an extra minute to stop and say I love you, instead of assuming you would KNOW I do.
If I knew it would be the last time I would be there to share your day, Well I'm sure you'll have so many more, so I can let just this one slip away.
For surely there's always tomorrow to make up for an oversight, and we always get a second chance to make everything just right.
There will always be another day
BR>to say I love you, And certainly there's another chance to say our Anything I can do?
But just in case I might be wrong, and today is all I get, I'd like to say how much I love you and I hope we never forget.
Tomorrow is not promised to anyone, young or old alike, And today may be the last chance you get to hold your loved one tight.
So if you're waiting for tomorrow, why not do it today? For if tomorrow never comes, you'll surely regret the day,
That you didn't take that extra time for a smile, a hug, or a kiss and you were too busy to grant someone, what turned out to be their one last wish.
So hold your loved ones close today, and whisper in their ear, Tell them how much you love them and that you'll always hold them dear
Take time to say I'm sorry, Please forgive me, Thank you, or It's okay. And if tomorrow never comes, you'll have no regrets about today.
Send this to at least 10 people to show your support.
PLEASE DON'T BREAK IT!!!!!!
I love it! LOL
But a speech like that would mean that Bush is being honest, and that can only happen in our dreams... sigh...
I love it! :-)
Considering Hannity's treatment of the guest immediately prior to this, Coulter finally got her long overdue well deserved Hannitizing. Colmes' replacement did a heckuva job.
I love this guy. I have been
finding that people who are normally neutral (in public) have been talking out lately about our situation here at home. Keith Olberman usually was quite funny most of the time, but not of late. He has issued some scathing comments directed at the ineptitude of the administration and their outright refusal to do anything about it, even acknowledge it. Joe Scarborough has been talking up the administration's mess as well. There comes a point when, no matter what side you are on, the truth is so enormously in your face that you must address it if you want to maintain any kind of credibility at all. It heartens me to see people who are not progressives, Democrats, liberals, whatever, stand up and say these people have crossed too many lines too many times. It is not okay. I really believe the protesters or dissenters or those asking questions being likened to Nazi appeasers was the last straw for a lot of people. Oh, and by the way, it seems the U.S. has lost Anbar province to Al-Qaeda and have no hope of getting it back. This happened in August. Anbar province is 50,000 square miles. How's that going to play in Peoria.
Cheny on Meet the Press....talk about pretzel logic. He made no sense whatsoever. He said we would have gone to Iraq even if we knew they had no WMD (which of course they did know) anyway. Then he said Iraq did have them. Then he said he wouldn't address this and wouldn't address that and he didn't remember, yadda yadda yadda. And W. That interview with Matt Lauer creeped me out. He kept getting closer and closer and in Matt's face and putting his hands on Matt. I thought he was going to start finger thumping Matt's chest. and start an actual fist fight; he was that stressed when he could not answer why if what we are doing in secret prisons is legal, then why can't we do it here? Good question. I used to feel that it was us against them, the Bush people versus everyone else but I truly now feel that it is the Bush administration against the whole country. It is really really frightening.
Love it...mean it.. nm

You do realize this is the same Michael Moore who during the last presidential election said he hated America? That Americans were stupid? Yes, I am sure going to believe what he says. All this boils down to is during the last election vinegar didn't get him much so he is going to try honey. Thank God some of us see him for what he is, and this latest letter of his for what IT is, which is a condescending load of, for lack of a better word, hooey. The fact that you totally embrace him and the stuff he spews shows he is able to tap that well of hatred that seems to run so deep in liberals these days, and that ability to turn a blind eye to all the liberal admin failures and blame every problem no matter what it is totally on the conservative side. You are all on a long float down the river denial...I just pray that you some day float into the light. I sincerely mean that.
Just got to love this guy!
He reminds of a mouse shaking his arms at an elephant. He deserves so much respect. I hope his Other Russia really takes off so Russia can have true peace and democracy.
Can't think of anyone I love more.nm

I just love you!!!
Are you my friend sm from a few days ago? You are so cool!!!
I would love to see that
I think it would be freaken hysterical!
I just love it when
people post stuff like this and then someone replies with facts instead of just sarcasm and insults! Great post and well said!
love that one
He was great on crossfire, of course I think he ticked off Carlson a bit, loved it though.
I love Joe
I love saying the name Joe and I love making eye contact with Joe. We had chemistry don't ya know!
I would love that
I would love a union to make sure we got raises, etc. We work in the sweat shops we call home. ICs working thinly veiled as contractors, but really employees without the benefits.
I believe that's what you love him for.....
!!
Love it love it love!!!!
Great story....thanks for sharing!
Love this one.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P36x8rTb3jI
I love how he said...
"The republicans demonized me." Hah...did that to himself. He is an unrepentant little slug. What a whiner....he actually called the police to help him when Fox News tried to talk to him on the street one afternoon (ironic, he wanted to blow up police stations in his era). He is reissuing his memoir, which came out in 2001 and sold very poorly then. Hmm, capitalism ain't so bad after all, is it? Way to ride the coattails of your friend Obama.
I'd love to see that HA HA HA
BTW - did you speak up about the photoshop altered picture that someone put Palins face on some girl with a bikini holding a rifle?
I'll bet not!
I'd just love to know this:
How could even the most brain-dead, idiotic, party-blind Democrat, let alone any moderates or "independents", in Minnesota vote for AL Franken for the Senate?
Minnesota gets two Senators, so who's next from these brilliant voters who brought us Governor Jesse Ventura - Senator Chuck E. Cheese? Cheech & Chong? It's really hard to believe the citizens of Minnesota who think it's funny to elect such pathetic losers to office can possibly take their voting responsibilities very seriously.
Love and sex...
are two different things. Love who you want. Normal sexual relations are between men and women.
You can love
your fellow man and still try to lead him down the right path. Homosexuality is not a path a Christian wants to be on. We are to separate ourselves from sinners who boast of their sins and try to effect a change in these people. A true Christian does that, regardless of the flack they receive.
I would love nothing more
than for Obama to be a one-term president. However, I can't make that call as there are just too many people who still love the man. Too many people who refuse to see his blatant lies. Too many people who won't hold his feet to the fire for the broken promises. Too many people voting for him merely because he is black. Too many lazy scum voting for him because they want a hand out and to be taken care of by the people who actually work. We also have the biased media reporting how great Obama is doing and people who only watch that news and don't really research things.....might just blindly think he is doing a great job.
We are really going to be fighting an uphill battle here. We will just have to wait and see what happens and I know I won't be voting for him just like I didn't in 2008. But I'm not going to say that there is no way he will get re-elected because there are a lot of kool-aid drinkers out there and a lot of ignorant voters who don't research and just listen to a biased news media.
We can't count our chickens before they hatch but I would absolutely LOVE to see him not elected again.
The thing that scares me is that Hugo Chavez himself said that if Obama keeps taking over things in America like he is.....he is going to further left than Chavez himself. Doesn't that scare the dickens out of anyone that Chavez is saying that Obama could very well be more left than he is? OMG......scary!!!!!
Love it
Catch the gay virus. I better lock up my kiddos
I just love it when Conservatives are
love the military
that is why I want them home. Cant fight a war without military, so no military, no war. No immoral, illegal war. Bush will have to finally face up to facts that he lied about this war, this war is wrong. Let him send his daughters or let him finish his military duty. No we are not going to send our sons and daughters to your illegal war, Bush..
LOL..I love Jon Stewart..
their hypocrisy!
Repubs love that pig sty!
Let the dukey fly,I say - there was too much one-sided flinging back in the 90s and the Cons weren't the ones getting dirty.
What I find really amusing is that the Cons want to smirk and say go ahead and indict - we'll just indict you for all your nasty little crimes too! - as if that's a bad thing:) Repubs don't seem to realize that the Dems don't support criminality in their leaders the way Cons worship it in their own.
Great, love those...especially
I love those phrases ...
you mentioned, especially its hard work. But now, we can add big to the list. Russia is big. China is big. Brazil is big.
I think my 82-year-old neighbor could run this country from her kitchen table with more expertise than W. She is a Cuban refugee from the 50s, when Castro first came on the scene and she can put a sentence together and use big words too.
I know. I love these guys. (NT)

I would love to see that happen!
not everybody thinks/believes the same way you do.
Love these quotes!! s/m
This one, as well as the one below by Edward R. Morrow, really knocked my socks off..!! Thanks for posting them..!!
LOL. You do love to wallow in it....
rock on.
Love it or leave it. Is that all you got?
I am wondering if you ever see or hear youself before, during or after your tantrums. I could not find a more perfect example of what I was trying to convey than this current post, even if my life depended on it.
Ordinary, garden-variety right-wing impotence. Attacks on patriotism and America, love-it-or-leave it. Boring….surely you can do better than that. Show me where I said I was disappointed in America. Please don’t respond with another fabrication. Blind, deaf, illiterate, which is it? Guess you skated right on past the part about being “no less American” or “proud of America and the ideals we try to uphold,” in your haste to find something to assault or ridicule.
Your attempt at humor falls about as flat as McCain’s let’s-annihilate-an-entire-population and rape jokes. MSNBC is a little on the tame side for me. Next time you really want to insult a democrat, try playing the Democracy Now! and KPFT/Pacifica card. Anyone genuinely interested in alternative viewpoints on issues that NEVER make to the mainstream media might want to check them out, but you will be disappointed if you are looking for candidate, spouse and their associates bashing. As for you, Sam, enjoy Hannity. It’s preaching-to-the choir audience and content ought to make you feel right at home, all safe and validated and it's a great place to go when you need to refresh those tired tactics and stock up on mud.
You seem to be a little confused today, (gag me) “dear.” Must be the way you tow your party line and jump right in with that hostility toward facts and information. Those “elite” and “snobbish” remarks are just as inappropriate and untrue about me as they are about Obama. Let me break this down for you. The “elite,” in most contexts, refers to the wealthy, aristocratic, blue-blood, upper class… the “haves.” That world of economic and class distinction can be found on the republican planet, where all the “snobs” live. We dems are the roll-up your sleeves, blue-collar, working class, champion of the underdogs bunch…“the have-nots.” Try to keep that straight next time you need to use that ploy. Being an MT, I belong to that second clan, to be sure, since very few of us have amassed vast wealth, and it should come as no surprise that my politics arise from that place.
I think the word you are looking for to rail against would be “academic.” I don’t feel I need to excuse or defend myself for trying to be equipped with a few facts, reading a few books, taking a class or 2 or checking into misinformation. But for the life of me, I cannot understand why so many right-wingers feel so threatened by that. I do not think I am smarter than the next guy. I just don’t want to sound as dumb and ignorant, that all. In fact, the best knowledge I have was picked up on the street, at the school of hard knocks and simply being alive for so long. In any case, there are a whole bunch of academic people out there Sam. They are your fellow Americans, and every once in a while, it is their turn to speak. Do us all a favor and get over yourself, puh-leeze.
You do seem to be reasonably intelligent. Academics, like bilingualism….not fatal. Indulge yourself and try it sometime. You just might like it. IMO, you probably would be pretty good at it. It certainly is a lot more stimulating than all this mud-slinging…more inspiring, too. I’ll say it again. Intelligence is a terrible thing to waste. If you think it’s funny, it’s your loss, not mine.
This is the only chat room I ever use. I do not come here for information. I come here because of the isolation factor in the life of a work-at-home MT. At least we all have that in common and I would like to assume that we are an off-the-beaten path community of fairly intelligent folks. I do not consider chat rooms, blogs, the Internet or any network, CNN, Fox or MSNBC broadcasts to be particularly reliable sources of information. I come from the old school (don’t go ballistic on me…it’s not a 4-letter word). I feel much more comfortable with good old-fashioned investigative reporting, and I am not referring to what has been passed off as such in recent times. Here’s what is looks like: It strives to be objective and unbiased. It is exhaustive and thorough. It examines the pros and cons of an issue, presents facts and alternative viewpoints and does not edit or opine. It leaves its conclusions up to the reader. That is how one develops original thinking. Not a hat you try on to see how cute it will make you look. It is a process of protracted, lifetime pursuit.
I will not dignify your accusations of being a mouthpiece for the party with a response, although there are certain aspects of the platform that do represent where I am coming from. This is simply another conclusion you have jumped to with great glee, and is a pitifully transparent avoidance of engaging any of the real issues I have raised. I will also pass on the delusions or grandeur dig…. (yawn) just more of the same senseless mud-slinging you seem to enjoy so much.
I am not interested in repeating myself on the immigrant issue since you’re not listening anyway….waste of time. I most certainly do see the Americans in my midst. I am one of them. You missed the point (no surprise there). I try not to respond to all those “shoulds.” Awfully one-dimensional, if you ask me, and besides, they do nothing to shed light on the topic, nor do they lead us to any viable solutions. BTW, show me where I said I want you to be Ethiopian or Cuban. Not. I want you to let them be Ethiopian-Americans, Cuban-Americans, etcetera. Assimilation is a HUGE issue with many facets and is way too complex to comprehend in the absence of the ability to put oneself into another’s shoes. Besides, I am sure that assimilation does not mean the same thing to you as it does to me. But I am glad you brought this up, because it plays into the broader issue of what it means to be an American, past, present and future.
You are most definitely not prepared to have any meaningful exchange on why immigrants come here and, yes, I can agree with at least one thing you said. Things aren’t so great where they come from. The question is why….and furthermore, that subject requires the ability to listen and respond to some honest and humbling self-examination and (gasp) criticism of the good ole US. Being the superpower that we are, it would be foolish to deny that US foreign policy failures have not played a significant role in that arena. I’ll go there with someone who is not quite as, shall we say, “sensitive” on that subject.
It may come as a shock to you that Americans are not one huge homogenous monolith that agrees with your vision of what America should or should not be. Quite the contrary. We are allowed to be diverse in our ideas and lifestles, without the fear of persecution. Spare me those chest-beating lectures on patriotism and your sanitized American utopian ideal. I read the DAR old home week posts but kept my distance. I will inject these two comments, which I am sure you will find offensive….oh well. American Indians have LOTS of issues between themselves and the US government….still. If nobody ever hears complaints from them, it is not from lack of trying. It would be because their news never makes it to mainstream media, but they do get weekly air time on Pacifica. They are not silent. Nobody is listening, and to our eternal shame, nobody cares and never did. They would not exactly be delighted to be dragged out in a horse-and-pony exhibition as mutt ancestors of non-Native Americans who would use their heritage in a whose-more-American contest. In fact, they remain pretty big on the idea of preserving their own ethnic purity. Not a whole lot of room there for the DAR. Last time I checked, they take their pride in being aboriginal natives who live in sovereign nations…not exactly receptive to the kind of assimilation you have in mind. Bet their vision of the REAL America wouldn’t look anything like yours.
In any case, it’s a brand new day in the USA. This is not 1800 and its not 1900…globalization is here, and it’s not going away. We unleashed it with our own hands and now it’s time to grow up and deal with what it all means. The face of the earth will never look the same again and there is no going back to the good old days. Sorry about that. Breaking news. There are around 50,000 illegal Irish immigrants in the US. Granted, they are English speaking but not AMERICAN English. What WILL we do with them all….round them up and ship this back across the Atlantic? Would that be all right with you?
That Krushchev remark was asinine and completely off the wall. I know you were trying to be cute and I got the general drift about his prediction and “without firing a shot.” You would like to misconstrue this and use it to bolster your immigration argument. Have it your way. Lets go there. I was alive and kicking, we had a TV and I was old enough to understand the report and the broadcast. I remember what happened. One shoe incident (there were a few) was an angry gesture on his part in a heated exchange with the Filipino minister during a rant against Western colonialism/imperialism. The prediction you cite was a completely different occasion, and was made in reference to the cold war, boasting that America's children would be living under communism without firing a shot. He couldn’t care less about the illegal immigration “problems” in the US. In fact, back then there was not a whole lot of that anyway. So enlighten me, oh Wise One. What truth am I missing here?
The degree of bigotry you hold inside yourself is hateful, a viewpoint shared by a majority of Americans on both sides of the aisle. Before you get your drawers in an uproar and start dragging out the denial defense, lets look at what Merriam Webster has to say. Bigot = “One who is strongly partial to one's own group, religion, race, or politics and is intolerant of those who differ.” Never heard you talk about religion, but by all other counts, you qualify. It is as exhaustive for you to nurture that kind of hatred as it is for anyone who tries to reason with you about it. Be a bigot. It’s a free country. But let it be known that as long as bigotry continues to exact its toll of division among us and inflicts the pain and suffering that it so obviously fosters, there will always be legions of us who will stand up against it. I am only being realistic about what lies ahead of all of us in terms of globalization. Stick your head in the sand. No problem. But it’s coming and there is really no force on earth that is going to stop that train.
Even an 8th grader knows that Nazis failed in creating a pure race. Nothing cute at all about the suffering that that kind of bigotry caused. If you feel that strongly about the pure race and making time stand still, maybe you should start a secession movement.
Hannity is too ill-informed, way too pathetic and just downright too stupid to push any of my buttons but he should be right up your alley...2 of a kind. Throw that therapy insult at someone else. Play time is over and it’s time for me to get out of the sandbox and go home.
In closing, you couldn’t recognize an issue if it came up kicked you in the face. Takes no talent whatsoever to get down there in the dirt where you seem to feel so much at home. Unfortunately, you set the tone for the responses you get. Anyone interested in answering you has to sink to your level just to have a conversation with you. Not all of us get our kicks like that and certainly I have much better ways to spend my time.
Let me know if you ever find your way past all those obnoxious personal attacks, clichéd catch phrases, dodges, deflections and deceptions and actually want to wrap your brain around some real issues. In the meantime, I won’t be back in sandbox at least for the next couple of days…looking to change my job. I know you will miss me just about as much as I will miss you. When I come back, I’ll be dialing it back a notch or two….this drivel is certainly not worth getting kicked off the board over.
I love this post.
Thank you for taking the time to research black liberation theology. I too enjoyed the research I did on the original post about the Trinity Unity Church. You will get responses that will try their best to drag this issue through the mud, spin it around and manipulate it in an attempt to drum up hatred for Michelle and Barack Obama. Your objective, organized, thoughtful approach to this subject has elevated this dialogue to the place where it belong in civil political discourse. Bravo.
